ur not weird id love to see ur dark interesting fic if youre willing to show it 👁👁 someone else in the replies said you could post it anon on ao3
It's unfinished as of right now! (I wrote a bunch of it like two years ago, ditches it in a doc after two days, but recently found my second wind) but here's a fun little excerpt so people can see exactly what I'm talking about:
PLEASE TELL EM MORE ABOIT THE EGGS!!!! in fertilized ones wpudl the infants be humanoid or draconian? wpuld there be a mixture? what would the ratio be like? would they mature like draconians or more like humans? Humans have naturally small birth canals so wpuld the infants seem stunted compared to others or would the parents lay them in draconian form? I AM SO INVESTED IN THIS AND YOU DONT GAVE TO ANSWER BUT IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS LORE!!!
YAY EGGS
okay so generally speaking, the baby would be born in its draconian form to be able to crack out of its egg! this species (The Aviaaros) also have a temperature determinant sex system, which means they have male and female, determined by temperature the eggs are incubated at, like several reptiles!
The species themselves are very much in the concept stage right now, but here's an example of an adult. during pregnancy, they lay the egg in their draconian form (because of the larger canal), however in their humanoid form if they were with Egg they'd just look like a pregnant person.
that being said, they'd probably lay one or two unfertilized eggs in the equivalent to a month as per a humanoid menstrual cycle, and just have a week where they ovulate and can be fertilized. the actual in body incubation period would be the equivalent to six months (i haven't nailed down their actual life spans yet) and then the egg would develop for another six months once laid before hatching.
i'm planning on several subspecies, here's some concept art, the above two designs are both "Tornado"
And here's an adult "Tornado" humanoid form example! (With wings hidden)
spooky dream :0c? perhaps spooky sheepboy dream?

sorry for sending another giant ask but if youre willing to share im also so interested in what forms the dragons would take, as that may influence how their eggs look (unless were operating off the dragons arent real and you can make whatever it is up principle, which is totally fine and id stil like to hear about it!!) if theyre more aviary then would their eggs be harder-shelled? if theyre reptillian would they lay soft-shelled eggs? are there multiple different types of dragons in the world that may lay different types of eggs? that also makes me wonder if there are then would certain types of eggs be seen as unsightly/gross to consume, like reptilian eggs?
egg lore...2!
they lay soft shelled eggs that harden to hard shelled eggs after a couple days. they are incapable of parthenogenesis, so an unfertilized egg cannot be incubated into a viable embryo.
the Aviaaros are mesothermic, meaning intermediate-blooded, and begin to lactate (in humanoid form) approximately equivalent to a year after laying their egg to nurse their young. the hatchling emerges in its draconian form and eats the eggshell/yolk.
after an intense academic discussion in call we decided their version of dragon catholicism is about dragon jesus being hatched from parthenogenesis (and thus female, XX), and when he's an adult he feeds the hungry with his unfertilized eggs and eggnog instead of bread and wine.
this society domesticates multiple bird species for egg consumption, as eggs are pretty holy, and dragon communion involves consuming a hardboiled dove egg (dragon jesus's fursona- as in this world it's a lamb), and some eggnog.
soft shelled eggs are eaten but they're more of a delicacy, as they're particularly fresh, most prefer to eat them when they've hardened.

No idea what could've caused you think that (certainly not anything I've posted lately) but I thank you kindly regardless :) I went to bed early last night (3am) and the night before but before that I had my regular bed time (6am+).
FORTUNATELY I'm going home for spring break so i can sleep as long as i want to :))
