alright, so the games I'm actually excited about after watching the endless Game Awards trailers.
leading the pack is definitely Witcher 4. unfortunately, it's also a game that's still very far from completion. I don't think even 2026 is realistic. Probably more likely 2027.
But yeah, I'm so excited about being able to play as Ciri instead of Geraldo, the grizzled pussy-hound. I can't wait to have Ciri roam the countryside, slay all manner of strange beasts and just generally have a great time lezzing things up. :)
next on my list is Outer Worlds 2. I really enjoyed the first game, it was a delightful mix of sci-fi adventure dramedy with some of the wackiest humor out there. There were a few things holding it back from greatness, at least for me. The sequel definitely needs some improvements in combat and more memorable companions. Should be releasing next year, probably more towards the latter end.
Solasta 2. At the time when OG Solasta came out, it was the best and most authentic video game implementation of D&D 5th edition ruleset. Obviously, since then, BG3 has released and completely obliterated all competition, but it doesn't mean that Solasta was a bad game. They're looking to step it up with the sequel, and while I don't expect it will come anywhere near BG3 quality, that's also an unnecessary measuring stick to apply to every game. Solasta 2 looks like it will be plenty of fun when it eventually comes out of early access, probably in 2026.
Lastly, the only game that's not a sequel of some sorts, and that's Dispatch. This one is very different, it seems to be mostly narrative dialogue-choice based game, but also it seems to have some strategy game elements. Since it's made by a bunch of Telltale Games veterans, I expect at the very least a strong narrative. Definitely picking this one up whenever it releases next year.
