but ethan was mad corrupted and hadn't realized what he'd done until he was sobbing in an alleyway with riptide to his throat begging for his life
percy who is also corrupted (by a certain sky god who threatened to kill a certain mother) and has to do this and is literally about to stab him
literally lands a strike to ethans side and then is fucking blASTED AWAY WITH MAGIC BEcause there's Alabaster C Torrington and one does NOT stab his best friend (crush but that's later)AND BE FINE.
ethans fucking on the ground bleeding out and alabaster covers the wound and drags him back to their side to heal him
and then fast forward to post son of magic and nico finds them??? and both boys lose their shit because they remember him and oH FUCK HES GONNA KILL US but nawh he just confused as fuck because he saw claymore and followed him there (ethabaster is canon by this point)
nico brings them back to camp and bargains like hell with mr. D and chiron to let them stay (they agree)
cue will seeing them and ALSO remembering them (ethan specifically) because young will thought his eye was the coolest thing

and then percy finds out they're back. essentially it fucks him up. He's pissed that these TRAITORS are back in his camp. He's jealous that Ethan has replaced him (never really let him go even tho hes got w Annabeth at this point). He's pissed that he didn't kill alabaster when he should've and needs to do that now to prove himself

never really liked nico, so he's on percys (s)hit list too, because the fewer people in his way the more likely ethan is to love him again
(annabeth is away from camp for whatever reason, girl has no idea what's going on)
at some point he fweaking wounds alabaster and nico. ethan and will are literally plotting. scheming. you see, throughout the four of them spending time together, will has since learned a lot about his plague powers. ethan does NOT want will to go alone,but he's gonna.

will essentially rocks percys shit, but bros by the river, so he's jumping in there and revitalizing. cue bloodbender percy :]
ethan sees will on the freaking ground from behind percy and fucking jumps on him. I mean on percys back, legs squeezing his middle and an arm tight around his neck, the other hand tight in his hair and WRENCHES him onto the riverbank. that thing happens where they roll.

they get back to apollo cabin panicking because the strongest healer in camp is dying and the collective of them don't know what to do. they call on apollo himself, who does in fact heal him.
percy has since fled camp, claiming to visit friends at camp jupiter.
