The tiny perennial Soldanella alpina (alpine snowbell, blue moonwort, jewel of the Alps) has rounded, leathery leaves and in early spring provides these fine purple flowers.

I read the Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands and so I drew another strange fairy, a fox man called Snowbell. He is small in stature, a bit of a man-eater, but he knows the fairy realms. He likes journeys. His species is called "fuchszwerge". I looked it up, but of course it's the author's invention, in our world that's what a breed of rabbit is called.
