❝ ... ... You really are too stubborn to die. ❞ Is all she can bring herself to say upon seeing the aftermath. While she stood in the doorway silent for far longer then she planned. She knew about the injury to (@soldiersscream)'s arm. Outside of the Military's reports, the chatter and gossip from those who came back alive surfaced quickly. The few of the military police's soldiers to come back, that was. Why had she come? Her reasoning was ... obscure, even to Laura. She'd made a beeline to where he was recovering without thought, without hesitation. Now, that reality had sunk in. No one, not even her, would have thought he'd end up in this state, it had taken her by surprise to say the least.
❝ So, even your own body isn't beyond sacrificing, is that it? ❞
it's impossible for a soldier of her calibre and rank to meet erwin smith , let alone be with him in a room . [ @soldiersscream ] but after levi's team destroyed and the spots opened for her to join the most elite team on earth . . . akina was quite delighted to be in the same room as the ' big guys ' , as jean called it . a miracle levi chose her at all , she was glad ; no matter how it frightened her too . but the captain was injured , resting , she was left with no other choice but to stay inside too . ❛ . . . is it true you have never killed a titan , sir ? ❜ comes her quiet voice at last , standing by the doorway of his office with her hands behind herself . and her question wasn't meant to insult the man , no , akina wouldn't even dream of it – actually , it was a way of reassuring herself that it's easier than this to crawl up the ranks in here . she gives him a tiny smile when he looks up , quickly lowering her gaze . ❛ sorry – ❜

Things had been weighing heavily on the young brunette's mind , as they often did . Kaja had accepted long ago that those she loved and cared for would one day leave her in some way , shape or form , especially when it came to the Scouts . Yet despite shielding herself from vulnerability , she'd always managed to find a crack in the foundation .
Her tired eyes glanced over to Erwin from the desk in her room ; her arms folded and head rested on them on top of it . She knew what she was feeling wasn't unusual , but it was to be expected . It was frustrating , and yet inevitable .
Deep down , there was a festering thought that made its way into her mind - what would happen if she were the last one standing out of those she loved ? Would it be luck ? Or a life riddled with survivor's guilt ? She wasn't sure which would be worse .
A loud huff of defeat escaped her . " It's just ... hard , " She replied , lifting her head and looking at the closed notebook ahead of her . It too was once shiny and new , but now was battered and worn ; it had seen just as much hell as she had . Kaja didn't know what else she could say , if she did , she couldn't find the right words . Life was just unfair , and that was how it was ... didn't mean she didn't want to get mad about it .
" I know it's just how things are but ... doesn't mean it's any easier . " She looks over her shoulder to Erwin , an easily readable expression in her eyes she was just tired of hiding - the feeling of being lost . " I don't want to disappoint everyone . You or Hanji or those that I've lost ... I feel like I'm doing as best I can , but I worry it's never enough . I feel like I'm always questioning what is my life even worth then , in the end . "

Whoever it was that went around hanging mistletoe up is not what's bothering him. It was not worth his time trying to figure out if it was Hanji herself or if she managed to get her squad to do her dirty work. It wasn't in the way, and it wasn't hurting anyone. Why not keep them up.
The blond spotted an opportunity, he saw the plant hanging over Levi's office door. Erwin knocked and waited patiently outside for the door to open, the straight faced Captain in front of him. "Ah Levi. Did you know you have mistletoe above your door?" he asked, "They say it's bad luck not to kiss underneath it" he explained before placing a secret kiss to Levi's cheek.
"Would you like me to take it down?"
Levi did in fact not know he had mistletoe above his door. He could only assume Hanji hung it there as a prank while he was working, doubted anyone else had the balls to do that sort of thing, or that Erwin himself was the type to engage in such silly traditions.
Or at least, that was the thought before Erwin leaned over and placed a kiss on his cheek. Eyes widened slightly, Levi could only stare up at him in subtle mixed surprise and confusion until he recomposed himself.
“Don’t tell me you really believe in that shit, Erwin.” His brow furrowed, disbelief in his tone. Averting his eyes, he scoffed, and in the next moment grabbed a fistful of the Commander’s shirt to pull him back down to his height. After a beat of hesitation the rare fleeting impulse pulled through, and he pressed a quick kiss to Erwin’s cheek before letting go of his shirt.
“We can’t afford either of us having bad luck,” he stated simply as Erwin returned to his full height, doing his best to ignore the warmth he felt rising to his face. He looked up at the mistletoe. “... Yes, take it down. At least put it somewhere that isn’t above my damn office. I don’t need anyone else getting ideas.”

Erwin glanced down, surprised at first by the rare display of closeness from Levi. For a moment, he says nothing, letting the silence stretch comfortably between them. Then, in a low voice, gentle but edged with the weight of all they’ve endured, he finally spoke “…You must be tired.” He shifted slightly, just enough to make it easier for Levi to lean against him, his arm steady and warm. “I’ll stay like this. As long as you need.” His hand moved, resting softly on his thigh, thumb stroking his legs gently.
Levi was tired, and sometimes it seemed like he always would be, just typically kept himself working, training, thinking, as to not feel it. But he was tired, and right now maybe he was feeling a little bit of something else, too.
He was quiet still, watching Erwin's thumb gently stroke his thigh. It felt... nice. Lips parted the tiniest bit as if thinking to say something, but he instead just adjusted himself more comfortably against the other's arm.
I'll stay like this. As long as you need. But he couldn't really keep him like this, could he? He finally managed, softly, still looking at his hand:
"... You must be tired, too."

We love dogs. Love 'em. No stinky, lay-about cats in this house, no siree.
And that's where the similarities end.
Luna is definitely more outdoorsy than I am. A worse cook than I am. More well-read, more scheming and conniving, constantly up on her high horse... you get the idea.
