She followed his line of sight, looking out over their surroundings as the rain kept coming down, water endlessly pouring down onto the rooftop of the gazebo and running into the foliage below. The rain showed no signs of stopping anytime soon, and there wasn't a soul to be found. Nothing. No joggers, no dog walkers, no mothers pushing their strollers underneath the shade of the trees. None of the usual foot traffic, at least.
It was just the two of them, taking shelter where they could until the weather subsided.
She thought little of it, knowing that there was little she could do in the interim as she closed the zipper on her duffel bag, as nature was a force beyond her control. Oddly enough, it was one of the few things that she took comfort in. Even when she could read the signs and track the course of an incoming storm, sometimes it would throw her for a loop. And that was alright.
A sudden rain storm like this made her stop and reassess, and gave her the space to breathe. It was just the break that she needed, calming the storm inside her mind as she leaned back, rolling her shoulders, listening to the water pouring over the side of the roof like she was sat beside a riverbed.
Then Katsu brought up something that she didn't expect. Not from him, nor anyone else for that matter.
He was worried about her. Whatever for? Confused was an understatement as she furrowed her brow at him, wondering just what in the Hell he was going on about and why he thought that she was unwell.
But then it hit her. He was talking about the shadows that were stalking him, the ones that only he could see. She had only seen them once, when she touched him and they appeared in her field of vision like broken radio static. Disturbed, and from another plane of existence.
"... I'm alright." She smiled, albeit tight-lipped and uneasy. It wasn't something she thought she would ever have to revisit, but come to think of it... She never asked what that those visions were, or how they could transfer over to her through something as simple as a touch.
If he brought it up, then she felt that it was something he was willing to talk about. And they had the time now, so.... She bit the bullet.
"Horrific is a strong word. It was... surprising. Nothing at all like what I was prepared for.
Do they always follow you around? Those shadows? Are they only something that you see, or... Can they hurt you?"
