I confess, I don’t enjoy canvassing - but I did a lot of it and I believe in its merits. This year I met some new volunteers for the cause I used to volunteer with. They were openly skeptical of canvassing and generally thought it was a ‘pointless hassle’. I was a bit dismayed.
That’s a weird thing to say when it’s scientifically proven to be way more effective than advertising.
Maybe part of the problem is a lack of awareness of basic stuff in sociology and political science? In that case, people can be educated. And to be fair, a lot of campaigns are set up in ass-backwards ways. They could be set up in ways that make it more fun and rewarding and easier for volunteer canvassers.

But that would’ve gotten me kicked out of this group which is a generally-non-tankie Marxist feminist group aka one of the few politics groups on FB that doesn’t make me constantly want to tear my hair out. Just sometimes.

In a way it kinda made me mad because these kinda dumb posts are catnip to the Russia-denialist crowd on this site. But also it’s just like, hilarious in terms of how disconnected from reality a lot of tumblr is. Like Putin even knows what “ace discourse” is, much less cares!

Hahahahah no. I wasn’t even aware the two genres could overlap like that! I do know about domestic discipline romance because DD is usually classified under BDSM and I wrote BDSM and I always used to joke that if BDSM was a village then DD would be the village idiot.
