Can you explain how to use the verb soler as in “usually such and such happens/someone does something”? Discovered it when reading forum posts by native Spanish speakers, I think I grasped how to use it from the context but want to make sure. Thanks

soler is a unique verb - it only exists in present tense, imperfect tense, and present subjunctive... and sometimes imperfect subjunctive; and it can be used with haber

Typically though: present, imperfect, and subjunctive

In present tense it's "to often do" or "to usually do"

Se suele decir... = It is often said... Solemos ir a la playa. = We often go to the beach. Suelo comer la cena muy temprano. = I usually eat dinner very early.

And another key feature is when soler is used in the imperfect tense to mean "used to"; imperfect tense by itself could be used as "used to", but soler is explicitly "used to" since the imperfect tense could be read in other ways:

Vivían en la ciudad. = They lived in the city. / They were living in the city. / They used to live in the city. Solían vivir en la ciudad. = They used to live in the city. Ella leía mucho. = She read a lot. / She was reading a lot. / She used to read a lot. Ella solía leer mucho. = She used to read a lot. Íbamos a la playa. = We were going to the beach. / We used to go the beach. Solíamos ir a la playa. = We used to go to the beach.

This is primarily how you'll see soler used. While it's possible to use soler in subjunctive, I would say it's uncommon and dependent on the phrasing.

Otherwise, like I said it doesn't exist in most other tenses. If you look up conjugation charts, sometimes they leave soler blank in other tenses

...you could potentially conjugate it in preterite for example, but no one uses soler in preterite so it's irrelevant

I was possesed and compelled to finally make next gen babies for the AU as further procrastinating of the S6 summary (writer’s block and rewatching S6 is a Combo, lemme tell ya), so here they are! at least the oldest kids, some may gain siblings down the line. Age: 16

Title: Fairy of the Dragon’s Garden

Lav has... a lot on her plate. She didn’t get the confidence of either of her moms, and while she (thankfully) got Diaspro’s grace and poise, she’d rather just not interact with other people much, especially nobles. She ended up developing a knack for gardening thanks to her Aunt Flora and her Abu Vanessa, which the turns to whenever she is stressed. She looks up a lot to Aura, and is Cuore’s best friend. Her Source is Plants, stilll having only Charmix.

Aura Brillo Oriol-Argentis Ortiz, Crown Princess of Solaria

Age: 19

Title: Sorceress of the Northern Star

Aura is everything you would expect of the daughter of Stella and Brandon - confident, cocky, reckless, and stylish. Her style contrasts very harshly with her parents’s extravagance, however, preferring dark or softer colors and more street-savvy looks. However, she does feel pressured about being the future ruler of Solaria, not being as sly as her mother when dealing with royals, and can see a lot of her struggles in Lav, which is why she likes to guide her if she can. Her Source is Ice, and she’s in Enchantix.

Hai Rubino van Amstel Lu, Prince of Andros

Age: 20

Title: Witch of the Deep

Laid-back and confident, he resembles both of his mothers a lot. As he won’t become the next ruler of Andros, he has become kind of a sloth, accepting his role as simply another royal with ease and living life as he sees it fit. He does try to make himself useful from time to time, proving to be a terrifying politician in the making if he has to be present in royal meetings. His Source is Water, same as Aisha, and he’s in Glamourix.

Theophania “Tiff” Smith-Ayton, Denizen of Magix and Zenith

Age: 22

Title: Fairy of Gales

Calm, collected, and with a surprisingly short temper, Tiff is quite the successful lady. She works as a librarian on Magix, as well as running her own research on the development of the planet, as sources before the first rise of Darkar are scarce, a lot of legends, people and rituals lost to history. She keeps in touch with most of her friends as often as she can, but she’s as much of a workaholic as her mother, as much as she hates to admit it. Her Source is Wind, and she uses Nimbuix.

Soler Maurizio Saladin-Robledos, Denizen of Lynphea

Age: 25

Title: Specialist, Sorcerer of Sparks

At first glance, you wouldn’t guess Soler is the son of Flora and Helia, his more standoffish and rude attitude contrasting both his parents. He ended up getting Flora’s bad temper and Helia’s slight snobbiness, and while he’s extremely polite, he still isn’t the most pleasant person to be around with. Prolific in the usage of both Specialist weapons and magic, he keeps in touch with his former teammates but wasn’t never really super close to them. He works as tech support for weapons. His Source is Fire, and uses Lustrix.

Cuore Sabrina Beaufort Altamura, Princess of Eraklyon

Age: 16

Title: Fairy of the Shining Heart

Cuore grew up surrounded by dogs. That should tell you enough about her. She’s a very cheerful and charitative girl, but can be incredibly selfish at the same time and she’s not afraid to weaponize her cuteness if it means she can get what she wants. She gets along really well with Lav, and wants to be able to bring her out her shell and be more social, but she does have a small issue with boundaries and tends to either overdo it or restrain herself too much. Her Source is Light, still in her Charmix.
