After 45 minutes of walking i was in front of the solheimasandur plane wreck. This DC-3 airplane crashed in the afternoon of November 21, 1973, but fortunately no one died. Iceland never stops to surprise you. Let me know what do you think about it

A Successful Landing 

On November 24 1973 a US Navy airplane was forced to make an emergency landing and crashed on Sólheimasandur beach near Vik Iceland. Thankfully the landing was a success and everyone survived, but the plane was never salvaged and what's left of it remains at the crash site to this day.

It's a bit of a walk to get here in the winter (4.5 miles roundtrip), but I beat the storm clouds and enjoyed the exercise.
