wasn’t a lot of scholarly stuff about Supernatural written back in ye olde days before Cas was even on the show? I could be 10000% wrong and I feel like I am being explainy over something you would already know here D: but yeah.

there's a lot that was, yeah, but there's a lot that's come out from after Cas has been on the show, too—like the article I'm reading right now even references Cas BY NAME, but is like, "lol nope, the show makes it clear that there are no romantic prospects for Sam and Dean besides each other" (in fairness, it's from 2010 and references up to season four, so it was probably researched and written before the Dean/Cas queerbaiting really started up), but like… I've only seen one piece that wasn't somehow about Sam/Dean, and it was a really short essay about Becky, and I'm just like, "rawrgh, academia, I know you have more Supernatural fen in you, so where are they and when can I yell at them about how they're doing fandom studies a disservice by presenting the fandom as this monolithic entity that only loves Sam/Dean"

FOR SOME REASON I normally come up with stupid fucking names for characters I really love? Like when I talk seriously about Harry Potter I refer to him only as "THE H.P." so I'll be like "I really like to think of the houses as a quadrant scale. So, let's label the axises. The H.P. would sit his righteous way the fuck up here." or like "WHAT THE H. P. DOESN'T FUCKING REALIZE IS blahblahblah."

It actually got me in trouble a lot in college because, according to my adviser, the more formal things got in the classroom the more I turned to talking about neuroscience like a juggalo. A well-read and usually correct juggalo, but a juggalo.

I will cheer you on o/ I always want to do a S6 and S7 rewrite and S7 seems easier because it was a lot less busy.
