41, 42!
Character Solidifying Meme
☠ 41. Is your character aware of who they are? Strengths? Weaknesses? Idiosyncrasies? Capable of self-irony?
☠ 42. What does your character want most? What do they need really badly, compulsively? What are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?
We’re gonna unfold this like an onion that only gets more bitter the deeper you go.On the surface, what Casey wants the most is to be a badass. To be a rough, tough n’ buff vigilante/bounty hunter that’s a serious force to be reckoned with.He wants to be the ultimate protector— and while he can hold his own with the turtles in a sense— he certainly can’t hold his own against enemies like they can. That’s something he’d definitely dearly want. To be unstoppable. A bit deeper, as the first sort of punctures into, Casey wants to protect. The Good, The Bad and Casey Jones shows that pretty vividly. He wanted to protect his dad, his little sister, and April. On top of that, in Mutagen Man Unleashed, he tells April that he wants to be a pro hockey player.Who else was a pro hockey player that he knows?Oh! Right! His dad.He wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps. To make his family proud, because he certainly can’t do that with schoolwork.Hockey is one talent he does seem to get recognition for, and while very obviously enjoying it as much as he does, he also knows it’s a foolproof way of making his remaining parent proud of him.In the center, a thing he’d sacrifice for?Well, once again, protecting. To keep both of his families safe. He failed one, and “made up for it” by rescuing the other. (Driving a hippie bus into a giant alien brain queen? Yeah, I think this kid doesn’t really mind sacrificing himself for the ones he loves.)Along with that— acceptance. Love, really. Casey doesn’t have a mom, and like I said, it seems to effect him deeply. Even if we’ve only seen the tiniest glimpse of it when he was talking to April. It’s clear he doesn’t have a lot of ‘feminine’ influence in his life at this point, the kid probably doesn’t even know the definition of unconditional love. Not that he really wants a replacement for his mom (he’d honestly just rather have his mom in general. Sacrifice himself just to have her be alive again.) But the feeling of that nurturing nature moms have.Yeah, I imagine that’d be something Casey desperately wants the most.
