"hi! it’s dohyun here, and this is my vlive documenting my journey learning tricking! so, i’ve got absolutely zero experience in gymnastics type ... things, so this is going to be a steep learning curve, and probably be very entertaining to watch. i’m expecting a lot of bruises, but, fingers crossed no broken bones!” dohyun speaks to the camera as he kneels on the floor in a room with a padded floor and thick matts leant against the wall.
he’d decided to learn tricking as his ‘new year new experiences’ activity, as he’d seen a lot of idols put tricking flips into their performances, and wanted to be able to do it too, so he’d maybe get to do it on stage in the future. though the whole idea of flips was daunting to dohyun, he was extremely excited when he’d first decided to learn and found himself a teacher.
“my first lesson is tomorrow, and i’m going to film bits of it so you can watch me fall on my face!” he says, laughing brightly. then, the video cuts to a shot of dohyun and a person with a blurred face talking as dohyun slowly turns his way through some simple flip footwork, finding the spots his feet need to land and stepping between them slowly, making his way towards picking up some momentum in his steps until there’s a slight jump in his twisting turn movement.
the video speeds up to show him practising over and over, falling over countless times, until finally it slows to show him landing his first proper flip. as he lands, steady and in the right position he cheers, and his teacher, from off camera, cheers too, clapping for him. then, the video cuts to a shot with dohyun leaning up close to the camera this time, slightly breathless.
“so, i just showed you clips from my last few lessons, up till today where i finally landed that flip i was learning! impressive, right?” he chuckles, pushing his hair back off his forehead and putting a cap on his head. “next lesson we’s starting a slightly tougher flip, so i’ll show you that too!”
the video continues to play through a montage of sped up clips of dohyun practising flips, then slowing to show him when he finally lands them, before moving onto a more difficult one. as the video nears the end it slows early this time, showing his last few attempts on his most recent trick he’d been learning, until it shows him landing it perfectly in slow motion.
it cuts to a shot of dohyun sat on the floor in the room with the padded floor, a bruise visible on his knee that’s visible just below the edge of his shorts. “so, that’s the end of the trimester of lessons, and i’ve learnt four tricks! i fell over a lot when i first started, but the more i learnt the less i fell over... though evidently i still fell over sometimes.” he says with a chuckle, glancing down at his bruised knee.
“i had fun, and i’m going to keep working on my tricking so that i can hopefully show it on stage one day, and you can see how much i’ve improved, which i promise i’ll continue to do! thanks for watching, bye!”
