I did something completely outside my comfort zone! What was suppose to be a backpacking trip to the Sespe Hot Springs with my partner in crime, ended with me hiking it myself! Sean's truck was having issues and he needed to stay and work on it. I told him that I wanted to go on my own. He was fully supportive and encouraged me, even when I started to doubt myself. Saturday I took off for the Sespe Wilderness and started my 15+ mile hike to the hot springs. The recent storms took out a lot of the trail and resulted in me getting lost three times! 😅 I've been hiking long enough to know when to turn back. I was only 2 miles away from my destination when I decided to call it. I found a nice spot to sleep and woke up the next morning to head back home. I didn't get lost at all on the way back 😎 I crossed the Sespe River 14 times, drank 12 liters of water, and hiked about 27 miles. Did I mention it got to be 90 degrees out there!?! My body is covered with scratches and bruises with some awesome blisters added to my feet. Overall I had a blast, it was very humbling and epic experience. However now that I've done it, I know now that as much as I enjoy hiking alone, camping alone sucks. My mind plays tricks on me when listening to all that nightlife 😳 so I think once is enough for me. People on the trail were super supportive that I was hiking alone, there were a couple condescending tones but that just push me on! At the end of the day I still had a smile on my face and reached a goal I had for myself!
