AA this is kinda random but i was wondering if you would maybe be able to give some advice on a writing issue i have?? sorry if this is like not an appropriate thing to ask so feel free to delete if so but jjhgkld i always struggle with like. HOW to write/format the first sentence of fics, and its always what keeps me from continuing them. what do you do to not get stuck on the first sentence lmao? i always worry it'll be stale in comparison to the actual story. ty and hope u have a good day!

Oh gosh I'm not the best person to ask for advice sorry skvbs I've only recently gotten back into writing the past few weeks and I'm still fairly rusty

but YEAH I understand the struggle, I've always hated writing the first sentence. How I used to do it is by leaving it until later? I don't write fics chronologically, I usually start more near the climax because I get one specific scene stuck in my head, and then just build around that. And then once I've written enough and know what I'm doing with the story more, the style and pacing I'm aiming for, it's easier to go back to the start to write the first sentence/paragraph and have it lead into the rest well.

I find it better to have it already set in motion, so you're starting with an action? Especially with fanfic, since most of the time the world and characters are already established so you don't have to set anything up, you can get straight into it. You don't have to spell everything out I think is the phrase?

I hope this helps, like even with the fics I'm writing now I still haven't written the first scenes yet ksjfh it's SCARY
