Cheerful though naive, you almost want to forgive this talented young airbender for stealing fruit from the markets. It’s not entirely Aladdin’s fault that he doesn’t know the in and outs of Republic City just yet; the Southern Air Temple strikes a sharp contrast, especially if you’ve spent all your life studying Air Nomad culture and how to make the clouds in the sky look like a flock of birds chasing one another.
He’s in tune with his spiritual self, though at first only managed to achieve connection to the spirit world when his friend Alibaba was brought to the Fog of Lost Souls and needed his help the most. At a time after Harmonic Convergence occurring, it was surprising how little the spirit world had been explored but perhaps that just made Aladdin’s adventures in this realm all the more exciting. After experiencing much of the dangers the spirits had to offer, Aladdin realised he had so much more to learn about the mortal world, too. Pro-bending, the newest Satomobile, theatre: all things Aladdin would watch with eyes widened in fascination once he got there.
The idea of royalty held little weight among Air Acolytes and airbender monks alike, so Aladdin’s striking resemblance to a lord long gone didn’t grant him the privileges he would have otherwise been able to take advantage of in the other nations. This never really bothered the airbender, there’s not a greedy bone in his body - unless food is involved. Republic City tempted him with watermelons, yes. And knowing its citizens, he could probably pay for them by entertaining using his quirky airbending techniques.
