I’m not saying he “shit on my pony” (which, what????) or taking his presence in the race as a personal insult; I just see the trend of unqualified white men running against much more qualified women/PoC and being more successful because of deeply-rooted misogyny and racism as a trend that we should be questioning and looking at with a critical eye.

Why is it that an unqualified white man jumped so high in the polls so quickly against more qualified women and PoC? Is it because of his ideas or because our idea of electability defaults to white men? How has the media interviewing him nonstop because of the novelty of having someone so unqualified run affected his surge of popularity? Why have other similarly unqualified women been ignored as long shot candidates while he has been invited on huge numbers of talk shows and podcasts? These are questions we should all think long and hard about as we pick our favorite candidates and continue into primary season.

I’m open to changing my mind, but for now I don’t see any reason to. Everyone has their priorities, and currently his and mine don’t match up. Sorry if I upset you by saying that white male privilege makes it easier for unqualified white men to get into the race for and win the presidency, I guess?

Once a year I like to watch He's Just Not Into You because it's an entire movie of straight people tropes meant seriously and I use it to remind myself that straight people are weak. There's a scene where a guy accidentally says funeral instead of wedding and talks about how he can't be friends with a girl because she's hot and he might accidentally cheat. Also girls aren't allowed to call guys and gay people are hypersexual. I feel like I'm finally beginning to understand the hetero language.

Listen I'm still working on the part in ep1 where medusa calls black bolt on the phone. ON THE PHONE. WHY DOES HE EVEN HAVE A TOTALLY VERBAL COMMUNICATION DEVICE. WHY DOES THE MOON NOT HAVE TEXT MESSAGING.

I just… I mean, he’s the king.  He’s the king, and he develops this sign language and just… nobody but his wife bothers learning it? And I’m just going to assume the touch-telepathy thing is true, because that really does seem to be what the writers were going for with those bits with Medusa and Maximus, but then… he just never touches anyone else?  Do people just call him on his little apple watch and tell him stuff and then hang up on him?

Like, I totally assumed the communicators were going to have text capability, and I figured that was a clever way of working around the whole can’t-speak thing if you’re not going to go with the sign language angle, but then.  NOPE.  Shot down in flames, nosediving into blue depths of the Pacific.  Voice-only. He can’t even activate a camera and sign at his wife, the only person in the moon-city he rules who learned sign language to communicate with him, its king.  Or like… shake his head.  Or give a thumbs up.  Or scowl really hard at the person calling and asking a stupid question in the hopes that they can pretend not to have understood the answer and just do whatever they wanted.

Like, the guy who literally rules their civilization, and he can’t get a communicator with a camera?  This is how his underlings communicate with him.  Do they even know when they haven’t gotten through?  Has he butt-answered before on accident?  Is that how the last budget got approved, and it was kind of an unpopular mess, and that’s why everyone in the mines is so pissed?

And then when Medusa calls him on the comm, and it’s actually important and nobody ignores their royal wristwatch phones because they don’t feel like answering, it turns out they also never came up with a way to use like Morse code?  Or even a once for yes and twice for no system?  This couple that has telepathy and a private sign language has never, in all the time they’ve been together and also had comms, figured out a tap sequence for ‘yah’ or ‘nah’ or ‘you still wearing that black leather tunic I like? ;) ’? The answer according to the writers: no.  A thousand times no.  We are fools for having expected it.

So he’s stuck sitting there, this king of a space-civilization composed of super-beings, staring at this piece of technology like if only I had some way to convey basic information via this device that doesn’t require planet-destroying speech from my accursed Inhuman vocal cords, how, how can such an impossible thing come to pass.

And then he does the obvious thing and uses it like a stethoscope.

In one fell swoop, you took a deep, meaningful post about me coming to grips with my romantic identity and turned it into a shit show.  You managed to insult the identities of asexuals, aromantics, Aromantic Asexuals, Agender people, and Non-Binary people.

Not just that, but you also insinuate that we were all homophobic/transphobic oppressors whose only goal on wanting to be included with the LGBT+ community is so that we can oppress the Lesbians, Gays, Bi, and Trans people.

A+ on proving my point, though.  I was accepted as a member of the community while I identified as a biromantic asexual - but the minute I started to question being biromantic, I got a swift kick in the ass and told to never return.

Pretty much. I mean they could’ve figured out another way to get the info I’m sure but. A while back when he mentioned what he did after his powers ‘activated’ at puberty, I figured it must be SOMETHING like it (since he’s South American). I just hoped it wasn’t lmao. I just hope this isn’t like an invite into Cartel Drama. The underground has enough people to fight without going up against the damn cartel because Marcos tried to elevate himself above crime. 

Other than that, I really enjoyed the past two episodes. Tho if they don’t tie up the thread w/ Clarice I’m gonna scream.

if you go on the official philip k. dick site there’s an entire article from the JERUSALEM REPORT MAGAZINE (http://www.philipkdickfans.com/mirror/articles/Jerusalem_Report_Magazine_pkd.htm HERE YOU GO) which talks.... in.... good.... terms about...... the man in the high castle..... and as far as I know it’s based in jerusalem and the author of that article is israeli so like, I dunno, consider that the man in the high castle is not pro-nazi and it’s fucking obvious since the protagonist is jewish but okay then

other than that

a) I haven’t even seen that show yet but I read the book ages ago and I don’t remember particularly sympathizing with any nazis but I remember it being a v. good book and I only heard good things about the show, also I was like twelve when I read it so when I re-read it before watching the show, which I definitely will, I’ll see who I sympathize with now

b) if the fictional nazi is criticizing the system he belongs to making you see his pov is also the point of that kinda book and if you can’t put yourself in discussion enough to actually see what’s the fucking point of a dystopian novel it’s not my problem

c) once I read an alternate dystopian WWII trilogy where I plenty sympathized with a Romani guy who spent book one working for the reich and doing things he hated for them after they experimented on him and turned him into some kind on x-man and he spent book two trying to make amends and regretting all the indoctrination he was going through, it’s the point of dystopias and the entire point was that nazis were the worst and this guy wouldn’t even have been one if he hadn’t been basically taken by force. but whatever, k, this thing shouldn’t have happened anyway because according to you alternate WWII history cannot exist;

d) have fun deleting AN ENTIRE BRANCH OF ALTERNATE HISTORY DYSTOPIAN LITERATURE THEN.

there is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all. 

Paraphrasing: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MORAL OR IMMORAL TV SHOW, TV SHOWS ARE WELL WRITTEN OR BADLY WRITTEN. and if they’re well-written they will not be pro-nazis but they’ll make people think.

also, if you look at it, most dystopias show up in periods of fucked up politics. I’m nowhere near surprised that the US under trump are producing dystopian stuff en masse. because usually people who see where it’s going WOULD LIKE TO WARN OTHERS OF HOW MUCH WORSE IT COULD BE.
