oc stuff I ended up scrapping part 1 - Solori

I’ll start with scrapped characters.

There was originally going to be a character called “muffin”. She was a pink & white bat, butterfly, vampire thing who fed on people’s negative emotions in the form of (big surprise) muffins. She had the ability to like… make people happier when she did this. I ended up scrapping her because she didn’t fit the serious tone of the story, I already had Sunfire for comedic relief, and her lore was just poorly written in general. Void’s favorite food is muffins as a reference to her since they were going to be close friends.

This is the last drawing I made of her & it’s the closest you’ll probably ever get to me redesigning her lmao.

Two other rejected characters are a purple cat butterfly thing (who I’m 99% sure I just called “cat”) and a mossy goat(?) creature who’s name I entirely forget. They were best friends (or lovers possibly?) who lived in a forest near the city of Solori. The goat was abandoned by their parents and cat lost her wings and got kicked out from wherever cat butterfly people live. They’re also referenced in the plot of Solori but I can’t quite explain how yet…

there was originally an entire enemy kingdom ran by an evil scorpion dictator. He forced all of his citizens (who were actually butterflies… I genuinely don’t remember having a butterfly obsession but they keep coming up wtf) to wear scorpion armor because he was afraid of them being too weak or something. They’re referenced in the armor worn by the exoid guards at the beginning of chapter 1. I ended up removing them because they distracted from the main plot too much and honestly weren’t very interesting.

Also Sarah was originally from an entirely different universe. She was gonna accidentally stumble across Sunfire sneaking random things into a portal, follow him through, and realize how awful life is there and try to fix it. Which isn’t crazy different from the current plot if you ignore the multiverse thing. (It’s also weirdly a lot like the first episode of the owl house which wasn’t even a thing when I came up with this)

At first I planned for Solori to be an animated show, but after abandoning it for a bit and revisiting it later I realized it’d be easier to make as a comic. an animated adaptation would be awesome though…

Только двух щенков согласилась взять. Сказала, что в доме больше места нет.

Я зашла к Таре, пересчитала персонажей. Трое симов, 2 щенка и кот с кошкой. А места нет. Ну может кошка беременная...

Напоследок Гризельда нашла сокровища Штраудов XD Не врал Розенкранц, они действительно везде валяются.

Рыба Аданн пытается нарисовать сердечко из пузыриков XD И на этом я их оставляю :)

As a "sim parent" (sim maker) we shouldn't have favorites - but we do. Post your favorite sim baby (the golden child) and least fave. Pass it on!

Thank you so much Solori, I hoped someone would send this to me, you are an angel <3 Phew, I think most people around here think of me and think Andy, and to pick him and not pick Adrian, would be unfair, cause by now I love them equally and they are both my golden child. I simply can't rank one higher than the other. I love them both for various reasons, and they are so integrated in me, that they are an extension of me, and I am of them. I absolutely don't know where I would be in life, if I didn't create these two idiots. I owe them a lot.

(I find it very hard not to rant more about these two, alas it's past my bedtime, and I also feel bad for excluding my silver children, Raven, Sam & Willow) My least fave would be Roy (Alroy McKinney) I hate this man, so much that I don't even have a fancy answer pic for him, and I'll probably also kill him off in my story some day soon anyway, so I don't bother to make him one. He's not very nice, he's a terrible husband and an even worse father. Abusive, manipulative, controlling. Just an uncomfortable person demon.

Did I mention he's Raven, Ronan and Eonan's father?

@angelapleasant Do you think you'll stick with your outline? My biggest problem is that I create a big, intricate outline, get it 90% written and have all of the visuals lined up, then I change my mind and have to start over from scratch. I'm so excited for your story btw, I get so excited every time you post a new teaser.

@moonbiscuitsims Oh hell, something has felt off about Deadtree since I started redecorating it, and this comment nailed it: fog! Deadtree isn't Deadtree without it. Thank you! Also, I'm sure you're already aware of it, but you can download a rolling fog effect on MTS and place it on the lot for that delicious moody atmosphere.

@treason-and-plot I would probably choose death over owning and maintaining a fishtank of any kind, but if I could get my hands on something like that in real life, I would have to seriously reconsider my position. @greenplumbboblover "actually not that terrible" is exactly the level I aspire to! ;) I'm relieved and happy to hear that it looks better on mobile than it did. I'm not very good with photoshop, and don't fully understand how to translate the vision in my head to the images on the screen, but at least it sounds like I've made some progress. Thank you for responding and for the feedback!

@episims That's interesting about them being darker on mobile, actually, because I've always had the opposite experience with my pictures; they're fairly dark on my laptop, but bright on my phone, and I don't think my phone screen is too bright? I would have tried to fix them sooner if I had known they were even darker on mobile. Well, I'm glad they seem to be a little easier to see, although I agree, it's frustrating that I can't just them be miserable and dark like I'd prefer. Thank you so much for responding and giving me feedback!

Unless I missed something ... what happened to their parents?

These guys are the orphanage household, so no parents.  Kenna is due to age to adult soon, and will stay as the head of the orphanage until she is suited in marriage to one of my main families.  Then, I might have one of the other orphans step up to run the home.

Thank goodness for the genie lamp.  She is well on her way to Karl (Merchant) status, but realistically won’t get there for a bit, yet.

No, Ingrid resurrected Astrid with the genie wish.  But at this stage, my Sims are dropping like flies, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she kicks the tin again!

I'm so glad Ingrid got the genie lamp because it is extremely difficult being a single sim with a toddler in a medieval game. That's why I had Millicent send her niece to help Brodie when Fiona was a toddler :-)

I am looking forward to Eitri ageing up.  At least he can be left on his own then, or taken to community lots with his mother!

I should, but I feel at the moment that I’m too far gone.  I might pull it out for a bit in the next seasonal rotation and give my poor Sims a rest!

It seems like I roll a disproportionate number of pleasure sims but it's just because I think the vast majority of medieval sims would be fortune or family followed by knowledge, probably. Who would have time for jumping on the sofa in the middle ages?? Of course, jugglers were popular then...

I have a ton of Pleasure Sims, and I just don’t get them!  I understand family, knowledge and fortune in a Medieval game, and even popularity, but pleasure!  Their lives are meant to be horrible, no pleasure to be had!  The next time I make a ‘hood, I think I will hand design my Sims, rather than random rolls.  Lots of my Sims have similar traits, and some of their personalities just don’t fit with the way I envision them.  and they’re all so damn nice!
