SKIMS, officially launched September 10, 2019 by the reality star and entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian West. Kim Kardashian made more the two million dollars within the first few minutes of launching her shapewear brand SKIMS. Making a new world record for shapewear sales in any single day.
Despite a controversial beginning, the new shapewear brand has almost sold off their entire stock within a few days. Kim Kardashian originally wanted to launch her unique shapewear line with the name, Kimono. But due to negative feedback from her fans and critics for cultural appropriation, she decided to change the name to SKIMS by Kim Kardashian.

Within seconds of announcing the release of her new shapewear line “Kimono”, critics started accusing her of cultural appropriation. She listened and told the world that she will be changing the name of her new shapewear line.
Even though Kim hasn’t publicly announced the new name of her shapewear line, here is the complete story of what exactly happened.
On June 26 Kim introduced her new shapewear line “Kimono” that she has been developing over the last year. Stating that Kimono is her own special take on shapewear and designed for every body, every skin tone and coming in 9 different skin shades and sizes from XXS to 4XL.

Kim Kardashian claims that she has put her heart and soul into her new shapewear brand, but critics haven’t been able to give her a break. First, she was accused of cultural appropriation with the original name of her shapewear company, Kimono.
Within minutes of announcing the name, Kimono, of her shapewear line, she faced fierce backlash from critics and fans alike. Humbly, Kim Kardashian apologized for the error and stated that she never meant to offend anyone, as it was just an innocent mistake.
Last month, she announced that the new name of her shapewear brand would be Skims Solutionwear, which is just a play on the words. If you have had a chance to check out some of Kim Kardashian’s other unique brands, you will notice that she always plays her name “Kim” into the name. Such as Kimoji, KKW Fragrance and now Skims by Kim Kardashian.

The famous reality star barely was able to reinvent her shapewear line after the whole Kimono name fiasco. Finally, she was able to choose a more politically correct name for her shapewear line that is a play on her name – SKIMS Shapewear. The fans and critics both admit the name is flawless but…
The problem lies with the poorly edited picture Kim Kardashian used in her new shapewear campaign that introduced the name of her very own shapewear line. But before we get into details, we have to give two thumbs to Kim Kardashian for changing her company’s name from Kimono to Skims Solutionwear and by creating the most size inclusive shapewear collection.

This was definitely a major response and a very timely business move. Soon, the social outcry against Kim Kardashian’s newest brand of shapewear will be forgotten and the network users will move on to their latest wave of protest against the next mistake made from the business world of celebrities.
The new name is still being a play on her name, which is also a smart move, business-wise.
SKIMS Solutionwear is the new name (note: the clever inclusion of her name.) It is actually a brilliant name replacement and more fitting than KIMONO.
