…………………………………….
“You’ve gotta be kidding me.”
“Souuuuuuul.”
“WHY MAKA?”
“Because it’s fun!”
“It’s fun getting covered in sand and then still finding it in your butthole three years later?”
Maka leaned back, eyebrow raised skeptically. “Three years?”
“Maka!”
“Three years? Really?”
Soul squawked indignantly and floundered for a retort, during which she stole the headphones around his neck and hopped away, out of reach of his grabbing hands. “Seriously Maka?”
“I’ll only give them back when you come to the beach with us,” she answered smugly, standing at the door to her room as he stood up to face her better.
Letting out a long-suffering sigh, Soul agreed, “Fine, if I must.” Taking back his headphones from her open hand, he settled into the couch, grumbling about beaches and sand and the weather and sarcastic remarks and Maka and essentially everything else he could think of, including how she didn’t even need to take the headphones to get him to go, though he was quieter about that bit.
Alternatively…..
Maka raced across the sand, growling with frustration as the umbrella bounced out of her reach each time she got near it. Each footstep sank her into the sand, burning her feet as the sun beat down upon her shoulders. Stopping for a second to catch her breath, hands on her knees, Maka face hung down with the shame that the wind had gotten the best of her, even though she had basically run almost the entire length of the beach at this point.
“Uh… I think this is yours?”
The girl looked up in surprise, blonde pigtails swinging as she took in the guy standing before her, blushing and holding her umbrella.
“Thanks,” she said, grinning. “I’m Maka.”
“I’m Soul,” the man answered, shuffling his feet awkwardly before holding out her umbrella. “Here you go.”
Taking it, Maka swallowed her slight disappointment and started turning to go back to where Tsu and Liz were. “Would you like to go for a drink sometime?”
Soul’s jaw dropped open with shock while Maka burned bright red through her sunburn, embarrassed beyond belief. “Um, yeah, I really would,” he stammered. “Meet me at the bar in the Sunrise Hotel tomorrow night then?”
“Is eight good?”
“Yeah,” replied Soul dazedly, turning to go back to his friends and waving at her shyly as he left.
Waving back, Maka ignored her blushing and grinned as she jogged across the sand back to her friends.
"We take a dance class together and out next routine calls for partner work, and we got put together-STop standing on my foot!" AU for soma please and thank you :)
“Now you move- I SWEAR IF YOU STEP ON MY FOOT ONE MORE TIME I’M GOING TO CHOP IT OFF SOUL EVANS!”
“It’s not my fault you have no idea what you’re doing!”
“And that leads to you stepping on my feet how exactly?” Maka demanded, annoyed at how bruised her toes were clearly going to be in the dancing shoes.
“You’re always at the wrong place at the wrong time! Stop trying to lead!”
“Oh, so you don’t think I can-”
“It has nothing to do with what I think, but what this dance is supposed to be!” retorted Soul angrily.
Huffing in frustration, Maka challenged, “Fine then. Go ahead. Lead if you think you’ll be so much better at it.”
“I will be,” he answered snarkily, taking Maka’s hand again and guiding her across the dance floor, steps sure and confident despite the stormy look on his face.
As the song finished and their classmates clapped with awe, Maka glared at him. “That. Means. Nothing.”
“Of course it doesn’t,” Soul replied smoothly, a smirk fighting its way onto his face.
Growling, Maka stomped away from him so that another duo could get their turn, ignoring the way her stomach had fluttered during the one time their routine had gone right.
I need me a good SoMa fix so... “You punched me in the face while gesticulating wildly to a friend” AU
I have actually done this irl before… the memory haunts me to this day. Thanks for the prompt!
…………………………
“And then you know what the idiot said?” Maka demanded, fists clenching at her sides with anger, face burning with embarrassment.
“What did he say?” asked Tsu in concern, beautiful gray eyes filled with concern and worry about her friend.
“How can you say that about women, when your father-” she started, arms flying… until they hit flesh. Whipping around, Maka turned to see a teenager about their age, one hand cupping his jaw tenderly, strange red eyes flaring with annoyance.
“Hey! What did I ever do to you?” complained the teen, blood welling up on his lip where Maka’s punch had caused him to bite it.
“I’m really sorry," she apologized, hands hovering worriedly but not coming nearer due to the suspicious look he was casting her. "Oh come off it, I’m not going to hit you,” grumbled Maka, moving closer to examine his jaw. “You’ll be fine. Do you want help going to the nurse’s office?”
“No, I’ll be fine,” the guy said, disgruntledly walking past her down the hallway. "You’ll probably just hit me again for walking too fast,“ she heard him mutter as he speed-walked away.
"I didn’t do it on purpose genius!” Maka shouted after him in annoyance, ignoring Tsu’s mild amusement.
“Yeah, yeah, that’s what they all say,” he tossed over his shoulder, face twisted to try and hide the hint of a smile on his face. Rolling her eyes, Maka turned back to Tsu.
