5: What was the first time you suspected you were transgender?
Well, ah, the very first time the thought crossed my mind isn’t exactly a family-friendly discussion point so I won’t talk about it publicly. But the next occasion I remember after that was around mid-2015
During a night out, a friend of mine insisted I try tying my hair up in a topknot and she gave me a fresh hairtie to do it. It was a bit of a bodge (being that I did it at a bus stop at midnight), but I kinda liked it and my friends agreed it didn’t look too bad. However, I knew that sort of hairstyle was considered something of a challenge to masculinity, and seeing Caitlyn Jenner in the news as I kept tying my hair up over the next few days led me to wonder if there might be something going on. Still, the exact words in my journal were: “Fuck, I try tying my hair out of my eyes and suddenly I’m thinking maybe I’m trans? This is bullshit what am I doing”
7: What is your favourite part of being transgender?
I guess just…understanding myself and my desires and motivations so much better than I used to
18: How does your family feel about your trans identity?
Fortunately, my immediate family were fine with it and, after a month or two, all committed to using my new name and pronouns. I haven’t actually seen many members of my extended family since I came out, though. Christmas this year will probably be the next time I see more of those people, so that will be interesting

i'm good at assignments like this but only if i can discuss trans stuff lmfao
it would make for a very good discussion topic but unfortunately i’m still closeted and i have no intention of outing myself to my super transphobic and generally pretty awful colleagues and co-students
