School Rant
Urgh there is so much about school which is actually really great. You study stuff that’s interesting and you enjoy (when you do A-Levels particularly). There are loads of people to make friends with. There is a sense of community with prefects organising stuff and clubs to join so you can make more friends doing what you love.
But school ruins it because we are stood over like we have done something wrong or we will do something wrong constantly. Told to sit in silence because it teaches “self control”. Now told that study periods in our 6th form centre are complete silence. Told what we are wearing is “inappropriate” because it is not tailor made, even if it is a smart dress with a blazer over the top. Boys wearing brown shoes is apparently wrong because they should be black.
I just am so angry because school is actually such a cool place. I love the whole concept! I love that we go into school and study and learn and make friends and have opportunities.
But the fact I feel like I am being talked down to sucks. You would think that after 6 years at this school, with a good set of GCSEs and A-Levels and good behaviour and commitment to the school, we would be treated not far off from equal to teachers. I hate that, sometimes, all it can come down to is “i’m a teacher, you are a student” means that they get taken more seriously.
I am just sad about school. I feel like I have earned something here but still get treated just as badly as those who skive lessons and wear crop tops to school (we are supposed to wear what would be suitable for work).
Oh well, it’s only the first day. We’ll see how the rest goes.
