I love an untidy house. I like seeing clues as to where people have been. A knife that hasn't been put in the sink because someone was in too much of a hurry to eat their toast. A glass of water left on the bedside table. A spotless house is a place that's been left as it was found, almost as if nobody was ever there. I want to see shoes kicked off behind the front door and a pile of socks at the foot of the unmade bed.
A love an untidy garden. I want nature to have taken over a little, and something out there that was supposed to get it's own proper place, but life got in the way and now it lives with the birds and bees. I like to see an unfinished project, like someone could reappear at any time and start work on it at any moment.
I find tidied things boring. I like seeing where a life has been. A scruffy home is my kind of home.
