🖊 Astrid has a big family, she has two older brothers and one younger sister. The surname Maximus comes from an ancestor who shaped the way the family is to this day. Maximus claimed to have found a Spirit of the Wild that no other norn recognizes. A massive bird he called a Roc. The family still venerates Roc to this day and are known for their eccentricities in Hoelbrak.
🖊Despite coming from such an unusual family, Astrid is quite popular in Hoelbrak. She is a skaald and sings her songs with the aid of her illusions. She uses her mesmer magic to accompany her performances with lights, colors, and images. This as earned her quite the following in Hoelbrak and she’s something of a minor celebrity.
🖊Unfortunately, Astrid’s act is not unique. There is a singer in the Grove who also uses mesmer skills to enhance the show. Astrid and Coreene are bitter rivals. Both claim the other stole their act, despite the fact that their acts have entirely difference aesthetics. Astrid is more flashy and almost “disco”. Lights swirl and flash to the beat, there’s lots of glitter and vibrant colors. Coreene is more of lounge singer. The lights and colors are dramatic but mellow and shift slowly, the shadows play little melodramas in the background. Sadly, neither performer can admit that maybe they both came up with the concept separately.
