a/n: I haven’t updated this fic in centuries but got the sudden muse so here’s what I have so far. when in writer’s block, write a dance scene.
PREVIEW:
“...And so I’d like to thank them not only as my team, but as my family as well,” Dick ends his speech with a heartfelt tone, gaze trailing over the remaining four that stand with him on the stage. “Because without them, I wouldn’t be the man I am today. Without them, we would not be standing before you tonight, united, as a group. Thank you.”
Raven’s throat feels tight, the sensation only intensifying when she is pulled into a group hug and the crowd erupts with cheers and applause. She can hear Kori’s tearful, “I love you all”, followed by Gar’s, “Good thing you fell outta the sky, huh?”, and Victor and Kori giggle. Raven’s arms remain loosely crossed, but when she feels Dick’s arm tuck around her waist and pull her into his side and Kori on the other, she lets her own arm fall to wrap around his sternum and hold him there.
“My speech sounded wack compared to yours, dude,” Garfield grins at Dick. “No one of us could top that!”
“I don’t know, man. Rae kinda left me emotional,” Victor says, and Raven scoffs.
“I was just being honest.”
Dick squeezes her affectionately. It’s enough to bring a rosy tint to her cheeks.
The boys helped the girls down the stairs respectively ( Dick and Garfield holding Raven’s trail as she walks, Victor escorting Kori by the hand ), and they reach their seats. The celebration continues with eating and drinking and laughter, and the majority of the citizens and heroes have made their way to the dance floor within the hour. Raven and Dick remain seated, despite several invites to join in on the fun. They both know they can’t evade their friends for long, but they relish in the little private bubble they have with each other.
“How much longer do you think we have?” Dick has shed a few layers, blazer folded over his seat neatly, vest unbuttoned, shirt undone by two buttons.
“I give it five more minutes.” Raven appraises her dancing friends, eyebrow arching slowly as Garfield sticks out his tongue and rocks his hips.
Dick’s eyes meet Kori’s from across the room and they both smile. “Eh, I say about two before Star comes and gets us.”
Raven hesitates.
“Do you think we should -”
“Take the initiative?”
She groans in defeat. “We have no choice, do we?”
Dick laughs. “Sadly.”
The two birds get up to their feet. As they make their way to the dance floor, Dick’s eyes fly down to her feet as the skirt of her dress flutters around her ankles. She is already wearing her spare shoes.
“Were you already prepared for this?” he leans down to say in her ear from behind her, following her closely so they don’t get separated. With flats on now she’s back to her short stature and it is possibly the most adorable thing in the world. And uh. Yeah. Good. She’s good. Being herself is...good. And stuff.
Moving on.
“No.”
Somehow - well, actually, it’s not entirely farfetched, considering their subconscious need to be near each other, combined with his protectiveness and her social anxiety - they end up holding hands. It’s such a simple gesture, yet the romantic undertone is evident in his traveling gaze and her ducked face. Dick decides to take the initiative and strides ahead of her, Raven in tow, their fingers remaining interlocked as he paves a way for her until they reach their dancing allies.
She slips her hand out from his grip before anyone could see, and he tries not to look too disappointed about it.
But his heart flutters a little when she turns to face him.
somebody-believed replied to your photo:when i see nazi/hitler sympathizers on here it...
why is it even a question that people don’t hate hitler and nazis why is this a discussion I can’t
i've seen things like, for example, that that nazis didn't know what they were doing was wrong, that they thought they were doing something right, which is bullshit, with the stuff they did to people and how they treated people, they HAD to know exactly what they were doing, they were bad people, and they were crazy.
and yes, i do acknowledge, if hitler wasn't evil, he would have been a good leader possibly
