In this week's Some More News, we do a deep dive on how the NRA and conservatives love to misinterpret the Second Amendment and do everything and anything to...
RIP Cracked.com video content. After firing almost all of their LA staff / video department, and not turning out a video this year so far, it looks like itâs really the end. As a person that thinks way too much about movies and television, their videos will really be missed. Iâm glad Cody Johnston is keeping âSome Newsâ going.
How to pack for Cape Town
Last night I spent about three hours packing for a weekend trip. Before you judge, I packed for the city that's known for having four-seasons-in-a-day kinda weather. Â
Yep. Three hours sounds reasonable now.Â
I'm heading to Cape Town for Kyknet's Silwerskermfees. It's a festival for a short film competition. Basically, you enter with an idea for your film, if you make it to the next round you submit your script, if you make it to the next round, Kyknet gives you money to make this film.Â
This year I played in one of the shortfilms. Yay! *me: dancing and clapping*
It's really exciting to know that:
I'm traveling to Cape Town (I've never been-insert shocked face emoticon here).Â
I am flying down (This will be a first).Â
I'm going to a film festival in which I am playing in one of the films!!!
The last bullet point is still something I'm trying to wrap my head around. Â
So I spent three hours packing outfits that will suit this weather. Which is quite hard.
I started with browsing through my closet and taking out all items I would want to wear. My favourite sweaters, jeans and tops. Then I mixed and matched to find possible outfits.Â
Now, I've never done this before but while I was packing- I'm not sure if I will do this again, eventhough it helped- I tried on each outfit I have chosen, mixed and matched again until I was pleased.Â
This was good, but it also made me more confused because there would be one jean and I could make it into two different outfits with a different style and I didn't know which one to choose, because I didn't know which one I would feel like wearing on whichever day.
I'm a feels dresser. So yes. I might like that outfit today, but will I like it on Friday when I'm feeling all bad ass-y and not sweet and boho-y or whatever style the outfit is in?
What I've got in my bag is:
Two coats and two jackets: one black (from Cotton On) and one camel (from my mother's closet). My bomber jacket from YDE, and my denim jacket- just for in case.
3 denims and leather: 1 black (from Cotton On) and 2 blue denims (one from my friend's closet and the other from Makro). And then leathurrrr! (From Cotton On) Of course.Â
6 sweaters: where 3 of them are for in cases. Black, Camel, Navy Blue, Maroon (all from Cotton On) one turquoise and grey from my friend's closet and another black and white, from Foschini.Â
A lot of long sleeve t-shirts to keep warm from underneath. Â
Three dresses: one from Mango, two from my friend's closet.
Four summery shirts: one from Edgars, two from Cotton On, one from my friends closet.Â
For shoes, I've packed in my trusted sneaks. All black Converse for the edge and the outfits that need a black shoe. And then as always, my faves, all white Superga's. Â
All you need is a good pair of sneakers to up the level of coolness- this is where I would throw my shades on, for effect.
So I can't wait for you to see what I've chosen. I'll let you know how succesful this wardrobe was to the weather!
Be sure to follow me on instagram- @cutthemustardblog as I'll be actively updating you on the earlymorning shananigans, late night adventures and hopefully some powerful afternoon naps :).
If you know of something I simply HAVE to do in Cape Town, comment below and I'll tag you when it's done!Â
