Luigi and Daisy for the ask meme <3

Hi there! So sorry I couldn’t get to the ask sooner, because wow, Christmas. But here I am! So let’s get started!

WHEN OR IF I STARTED SHIPPING IT: Literally since I was like, seven. And this was before I knew what shipping was or what OTPs were.

MY THOUGHTS: Oh my goodness, these two are adorable and so are any instances where Nintendo pairs them together.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY ABOUT THEM: There’s a special kind of dynamic with Luigi and Daisy that you don’t get with Mario and Peach. The latter pairing is your typical “brave hero and beautiful princess” trope. But the former takes that trope and turns it completely upside down! Luigi’s not a typical hero; he’s shy and sensitive and terrified of lots of things, but he’s able to overcome it when the time calls for it. Daisy’s not a typical princess; she’s more active and definitely sassy, but she’s still got the poise and class of any other noble. And despite their non-conventional qualities, they can still find love in each other! Although Nintendo doesn’t really elaborate on this. I want that fixed.

WHAT MAKES ME SAD ABOUT THEM: I already said it before: Nintendo doesn’t elaborate much on their relationship as much as they do with Mario and Peach. We know why they love each other, and it’s that Mario will always put his life on the line to protect Peach, and she will always risk her life to send him any form of assistance while in captivity. But there’s no “story” behind Luigi and Daisy’s relationship other than that they’re just together! THIS is why we need a mainstream Mario game with Daisy in it. WE NEED SUBSTANCE, and not another game that keeps my favorite character in spinoff limbo.

THINGS DONE IN ART/FIC THAT ANNOYS ME: Whenever I see Luigi being visibly intimidated by Daisy in art, like she’s about to hurt him or something. I think Daisy would be sensible enough to know not to force Luigi into anything that would make him uncomfortable. There’s a difference between mild nervousness and outright FEAR, and I think Luigi would definitely let her know if he feels that. Furthermore, if he were ever to tell her at all, SHE WOULD LISTEN AND SHE WOULD STOP. I get that Daisy is very extroverted and “out there” but she would never, EVER take advantage of Luigi like that.

THINGS I LOOK FOR IN ART/FIC: Just if they’re characterized correctly, and if they’re able to balance each other out the right way. From what I’ve seen, I think Luigi is a lot more comfortable and self-confident while he is around Daisy. However, I also think it takes a while for those feelings to surface in the first few minutes or so that he’s with her. As for Daisy, I think she’d look a lot after Luigi’s well-being and try not to take advantage of him or try to scare him into doing anything he doesn’t want to do.

WHO I’D BE COMFORTABLE THEM ENDING UP WITH, IF NOT EACH OTHER: Damn, I never really thought about that…I kinda think they’re pretty much meant for each other! Mario and Peach are already pretty steady. Rosalina is doing just fine on her own, and Wario and Waluigi are basically the same way. Pauline, too, I guess. So…I can’t really see them with anyone else!

MY HAPPILY EVER AFTER FOR THEM: Luigi, despite his general status as a nobody, shocks pretty much everyone when he marries Daisy. But since he’s basically got the heart of a prince already, Sarasaland takes very well to him. And eventually, he becomes to them what Mario already is to the Mushroom Kingdom, so Luigi becomes his own hero more than ever before, but he will always help his brother out when the need arises. In the meantime, Daisy will be so overjoyed to see Luigi’s confidence grow and that it didn’t even make him arrogant or snobby at all. As a result, she is more than happy to marry someone whose kindness and generosity is still completely genuine. Sometimes when her kingdom needs a hero, she’ll fight alongside him, too!

WHAT’S THEIR FAVORITE NON-SEXUAL ACTIVITY: Geez, probably brushing up on sports with each other? But during their time apart, I headcanon that they keep correspondence by writing letters. Love letters. And they get pretty fucking sappy. I guess it’s true what they say, that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Because even though they only spend short amounts of time together, every second counts!

19: What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?

Some humans and some certain poses. Hands are a close second, but that's mostly depending on how "on a roll" I am on that day. It used to be cartoon-like styles but that’s something that I’ve more or less started to address to the point of not becoming a problem.

59: Do I have any strange phobias?

This might get serious and deep, so I apologize in advance:

I feel like my phobia of extremely open and empty spaces is this, pretty much the /opposite/ of claustrophobia. Cause nothing makes me feel so meaningless than being in an actual void.

The second close, the bigger one and kinda related to the above, is the concept of lacking internal freedom.  I honestly feel like we have managed to keep ourselves from fulfilling our wishes and purposes by having a controlling figure in our lives, be it our family, our friends/enemies, our society, and even our own dreams and nightmares. To lose oneself into a drone of your former being, despite being a good person, and end up being nothing more than someone you never wished to be for your entire life, I say it's really scary.

Finally, I have my own fear, the one where everyone might know me better for. I have a strong fear of seeing potential wasted. Some of the people that follow me as well as the people that I personally follow on Tumblr, other social medias and even in real life, have a voice to speak, but because of circumstances of their lives or for other reasons, justified and otherwise, refuse or give up to will on their potential as a person. It's a lot like an extension of the second fear, but I consider it so personal of a concern to justify it as it's own...

12: How would/does your character feel about roller coasters?

She especially likes Suspended Railed ones where you’re soaring like a superhero with no capes.

25: Would you want to hang out with your character?

No doubt about it XD

34: What is cliche about your character?

Let’s see….A chinese character that conveniently happens to be a panda, is associated with some sort of elemental power, and has half a Yin-Yang for an earring, for starters. Let’s not forget that she is a weeabo. And her name is Yuna Mei, I mean, how more can this design be anything else but Cliche: The Character. It’s on purpose

A lot of the stuff here will be funny in hindsight since a lot of people will assume she’s actually good at kung-fu fighting as the trope would expect~

44: What is your character proud of?

Despite everything, she doesn’t exactly feel particularly proud of anything specific, not even of her own Wind Elemental power (later on you’ll see why) or something as simple as her own fanfictions or anything.

She’s just happy as long as something turns out the way she wants or likes it to be.

58: Is your character dorky or more athletic?

While she does fit both, I would say she fits “dorky” better. She gets a little better later on, depending on the story.

I think I’d honestly take Young Link back over Toon Link, Toon Link has so much potential and even before he was confirmed and just seen in Japanese footage I’d made a complete moveset for him based around Four Swords/Wind Waker/Minish Cap, but it seems like he’s just gonna keep on being faster and weaker Link like Ganondorf is old man Captain Falcon

if Young Link was bought back as DLC or something they would need to revisit him and change him up like they did Roy, and it’d be nice to see him use more unique tools like the slingshot (I could see it being a bow skin..... or maybe it could be an aerial attack like Villagers slingshot!) and his different masks, like I’d love to see how they could work the Mask of Truth into his moveset with some thought and obviously the beautiful final smash of turning into Fierce Deity Link. <3

This opinion is not at all influenced by my liking for Wind Waker kind of rolling downhill nowadays
