This is way better than straight up telling your kid “Santa isn’t real.”
I never thought about it this way, and it makes me really happy
Happy Holidays! For those of you who celebrate Christmas today, how do you say "Happy Christmas" or "Merry Christmas" in your language?
Reblog with your answer! (In the tags is also fine.)
Aaah, I love to see the girl raging Super Mario Strikers style.
Wahoo, Let's-a-Go!! 🍄🌟
Happy Anniversary Super Mario!!

Daisy's Present Room
This is a Daisy doll. She's our fresh-faced heroine.
This is Daisy's side table. Don't peek in her journal! She won't like it.
This is Daisy's bed. It looks hard, but it's really good for the spine.
This is Daisy's table. I think Goomba made it for her.
These are Daisy's flowers. She picks them herself. .
This is a Bowser teapot. It bubbles like magma.
Have you ever heard of the idea that...
...Luigi is the true protagonist of Mario Party 3's story mode?
In the story mode, you have to prove to the Millennium Star that you have the qualities of a Super Star. For the first five segments of the story, after you win the traditional Battle Royale board, you face off in a duel against a character who claims to embody one of these traits. Every starting character except for Luigi lays claim to a specific one:
Mario touts courage.
Peach asserts love.
Yoshi alleges kindness.
Donkey Kong claims strength.
Wario boasts wit.
Luigi, meanwhile, serves as a placeholder in the event that you select one of these five as your player character. This is entirely for the purpose of letting you play as (almost) any character you want, but you could also argue that Luigi can flexibly exude any of the aforementioned qualities.
Why did I say "almost" regarding the character selection? Daisy and Waluigi--Luigi's love interest and rival, respectively--are not playable in the story mode. You are forced to battle them as opponents. Luigi cannot replace them, and they both break the formula as challengers. Daisy, declaring beauty, is a duel-only opponent; Waluigi, professing mischief, will only face you in a Battle Royale. Waluigi's battle even takes place on Waluigi's Island, a board that contains a few details suggesting that Waluigi stole it from Luigi.
In the end, the "Luigi protagonist" hypothesis is just a bit of silly fun, but I love it.

Something I've seen no one acknowledge: Daisy's Touring outfit has a Batadon patch! A very cute and sweet reference to her origins.

If I played this game as a kid, I would be sobbing uncontrollably
Though the pattern can get a little weird for the sake of character variation, the Mario Kart 8 Rivals system makes more sense if it’s less about “rivals” and more about who the character most wants to impress, be it to prove how capable they are, or send the message of “step to me and see what happens.”
The best example of this pattern is with Mario, who has an even mix of wanting to prove himself (Princess Peach) and an actual bitter rivalry (Bowser)
Then there’s Bowser, who’s racing purely out of spite.
Meanwhile, you have Luigi, who seems to only be racing to impress the people he cares about.
DK is very gorilla-esque in how he wants to impress only the biggest and strongest in the group.
Rosalina's only rival is Toad. My interpretation of this is, since she’s only been around Lumas for most of her life, she only cares about proving herself to what is essentially the mushroom equivalent of the Lumas.
Princess Peach naturally wants to prove herself to her citizens, and Princess Daisy has always had a lighthearted connection with Peach as a besty she’s regularly trying impress/outdo. What’s particularly interesting is the fact that the princessess show no interest in impressing their (alleged) romantic interests. Their relationships with the plumbers is so cordial and laid back that they feel they have nothing to prove.
They do, however, want to bring characters who have a casual semi-rivalry with their respective plumbers down a peg, be it Peach with DK, or Daisy with Waluigi.
But as babies, all they cared about was impressing the people they liked.
I could go on, but I really like the vague character implications of the rivalry system.
