If there were ever a fear that Luke harbored deep in his heart, it was the chance that Sofia would leave him--fall out of love with him. Their initial romance had been a whirlwind one, and Luke fell hard. He assumed that Sofia had, too, considering the two were now married with two children. Lately, though...
At first, it wasn’t so bad.
Sometimes Sofia would space out, but when he got her attention she would still smile at him, eyes sparkling with the same love that he’d seen reflected in them for the last few years. She would still play with the kids, still coddle Leo and kiss his face over and over again as the normally quiet baby giggled.
It only got worse over time, though.
He had tried to ask what was wrong, but she was refusing to speak to him. Was it about her sister moving away? Was it, what had Ford called it... Post-Birth Depression? Something like that. But it had been some time since Leo had been born...
She responded less and less to things, to people speaking to her. When the kids called for her attention, her normally expressive face was blank. After a long day at work, Luke would come home to find Sofia sitting and staring at nothing, one of the kids crying while Clorica was attending to the other. He’d come in and take care of things, but his wife was beginning to worry him more and more with each day.
He had tried to ask her what was wrong, late at night when the kids were in bed and he’d find her standing on their balcony looking at nothing in particular. Before, he’d catch her stargazing, but now she had this far off look in her eyes. She never responded when he asked what was wrong, and it had gotten to a point where Luke was begging his wife to speak to him.
She wouldn’t even react when he kissed her.
Luke was beginning to wonder if his luck had run out and his wife had, as he had hoped would never happen, fallen out of love with him, had grown tired of the life they lived, a fantasy come to life.
Perhaps the dream was over, but Luke wasn’t about to give up.
Specifically, OW’s puzzle and what’s Amiss in Crestfall
Ok, so, right now in OW’s puzzle we have “DANCING SHALL CEASE” BENEATH” “the Great Flood.”
The Great Flood painting reference leads me to the Church of Right Here Right Now. There is of course a neo-futuristic painting (done in monochrome pastels) on the celling of the church.
So, dancing shall cease beneath the church (or in the church I guess). What’s beneath the church? The basement, a very large basement in fact. A basement from which the Silent Sisters, according to Pastor Jeff, just appeared in. This was never looked into. Where did they come from? I’m convinced that’s what’s “amiss” in Crestfall: (stay with me here this is a bit out there) there is some kind of portal in the basement of the Chruch. Now, if that’s where the Sisters came from, isn’t it possible that more things could come out if it too? Probably
The dancing part I can’t answer. The only suggestion I have is maybe there’s some kind of ritual being preformed to summon the portal? But I doubt it.
Anyway, that’s it. Hope you enjoyed
(Also, if you haven’t already, go check out the Death by Dying podcast. It’s really funny, super mysterious, AND a 2nd season is in the works!)
Are you originally from Crestfall? Or did you come to Crestfall from somewhere else?
An intriguing question, mercutiglo.
I suppose we all are not originally from anywhere, or at least we are not originally from where we think we are from. We do not start from our birthplace, as there is a place before birth. The nature of this place I cannot be certain of, as everyone has a different theory on this matter, but I do know it has something to do with the consistency of dreams and the taste of color.
I hope this answers your question.
Thank goodness you messaged me. There is something amiss in Crestfall, but I dare not utter it all in one place.
Therefore your letter is “N”. You are the sixth person. Best find the others.
There's this old flash game, the name of which I had forgotten, that I loved so much and miss horribly. I used to play it multiple times a year until I could just breeze through the whole thing.
Anyway if anyone knows where I can play Something Amiss I would be much obliged. It's not on flashpoint archive sadly.
