forever thinking about how only two of the ten dire magni - the first and the last - are ever said to have family and people they love. thinking about how the first dire magnus had a wife and child and community and their murder by witch hunters was what sent him spiraling into madness and that directly parallels rafe becoming the dire magnus to save kate after she’s shot by a witch hunter and also wanting to punish the humans who have hunted his community, the savages. thinking about how all the other dire magni’s souls were forced to the land of the dead by the power of the reckoning, but the first wasn’t, he didn’t let rafe go until kate stabbed them through the heart. thinking about how the horror of the dire magnus began when the first lost the woman he loves and ended at the hands of the woman the last/rafe loves. they make me insane.

i think if you are an internet artist or creator, and a lack of people consuming your work - not nice comments, not people showing active interest in your work, but literally just numbers not going up enough for you - is so horribly demoralizing to you that you feel it necessary to project outward and guilt people into sharing your shit, you need to take a step back from the internet and ask yourself why it is you create at all, and if that situation is actually healthy for you

cuz like I'm not gonna act like external validation, even from strangers, isn't important to artists. Many of us create to form a connection to others, even if that connection is impersonal, I wouldn't call it unhealthy on its own. There's a joy in knowing that others like and relate to your work

but just as an audience isn't entitled to your work, you are not entitled to the attention of any given individual. I think the internet has basically conditioned people, especially young artists, to see large amounts of attention as not only more valuable, but more emotionally validating, than actual interest in your work. I think if you are at the point that you so desperately need a number to go up, that you would rather people share your work because they felt bad about not sharing, rather than because they actually wanted to share it, you are only creating to receive the illusion of care from others. Something is fucking broken there, and its not the reblogs to likes ratio.
