what if glenn survived the tragedy and was taken by twitd as a test subject or to turn into a backup death knight - and that's how he and hubert meet
...WELL. NEVER DID I THINK THIS IS HOW GLENN WOULD BE TAGGED ON THIS BLOG JDGDHDGD (also w ow this has been sitting in here for a while sjkghdf)
But! Glenn as either a test subject or a Death Knight back up huh? I can’t imagine he and Hubert would get the chance to interact too much, at least not at the beginning.
I can imagine though, as time goes by, and Hubert learns about Glenn, the boy that had been kidnapped on his deathbed by TWSITD for their twisted experiments...he’d start feeling more unsettled. He would try to brush off these feelings of discomfort, as he logically has no reason to care about him whatsoever.
(But then Hubert thinks of Lady Edelgard. Of how she and her siblings used to run freely through the halls, smiling and laughing all the while as they played and talked in the carefree way only children could. Of how once, the smiles Lady Edelgard gave were not burdened by the years she would never gain back. Of how Lady Edelgard’s hair was once brown, of how he used to brush and tie it with ribbons, to his lady’s delight.
Of how, her hair now white and smiles all but genuine, sometimes Hubert can hear her crying out for her lost siblings in her sleep.)
And one day, Glenn Fraldarius looks up to find a boy, who couldn’t have been much older than his little brother was, opening the door to his cell and urging him to follow.
Bonding might be...a little awkward at first. Glenn might not be willing to trust Hubert, even if Hubert had freed him and was helping him to hide from TWSITD, and Hubert might be berating himself for freeing Glenn when he had no reason to. But a tentative bond might begin to emerge when Edelgard gets involved, having learned of what Hubert did.
(And Glenn feels a pang in his heart, seeing this little girl with the same white hair as his and the same exhaustion and pain in her eyes.)
Hubert and Glenn might bond over their roles (or former role, in Glenn’s case) of looking after their lieges. Hubert would probably admire Glenn for being so willing to put his life down for Dimitri...to which Glenn might shut down right then and there. Giving up your life for your liege is not respectable, it’s not admirable, he still had people he wanted to go home to that he would never see again because he had done that.
Maybe Glenn could be the beginning to Hubert actually having a sense of self-preservation? Maybe, maybe not. But it is a possibility.
