Brief bio of a DJ: In 1988 Roland Casper begun his career as a DJ together with his longtime partner Claus Bachor back then at the innovative and today legendary Rave Club in Cologne. 2 years later, in 1990, the Space Club openened his doors in Cologne, with Casper as resident DJ. In 1992 Casper moved to the Warehouse in Cologne, where he played as a resident DJ alongside the most prominent DJs of the scene and also started to develope an international reputation. During this year, he also took off initial work on his own projects, releasing his first 12" single "Feel The Speed" under the alias Exeter and building his own studio where he recorded "The Warehouse" EP, first to be released under his real name. In the following he also released succesfully under his aliases Dan Eben, Integrated Circuits and Trollin Dwarf. In addition to all of this, he co-hosted the Psycho Thrill venue night together with its founder Claus Bachor at the Ballhaus in Bonn. In 1994, The Warehouse got closed, but Psycho Thrill Cologne developed a huge cult following and an unparalleled reputation either. In 1996, Casper started his own label, Essence, in cooperation with Roadrunner. Besides his own releases, the label has been primarily set up as a forum for newcomers from the german Techno and Acid underground. In the course of the first year, thirteen 12" singles and the highly recommended Psycho Thrill compilation were released to great critical acclaim. Today Casper is still continuing his DJ work worldwide.

biography:

CHRIS BAUMANN is the youngest home-grown talent of Cologne’s PSYCHO THRILL club and vinyl label whose current production "…calling Motor City" [PTNE 2116 ltd.ed. 12"/ DBH Music] has, prior to its official release, caught the attention of quite notable names such as HARD WAX, one of Berlin’s top address for Techno and House releases, and Detroit’s vinyl institution DETROIT THREADS.

Born and raised in Siegen [Germany], Bauman discovered his passion for Acid House as a teenager during the so-called “Summer of Love” in the late 80’s inspired by his uncle who was working as a professional DJ and promoter in the local club scene at that time. At the age of 12 he started “to work” the turntables and eventually really got into traditional DJ-mixing with the help and support of his uncle. He eventually managed to become a DJ and promoter himself at the age of 18, following the footsteps of his mentor who unfortunately passed away in 1998.

Baumann’s work as DJ and producer has since been combining a solid and clear vision going beyond tasteful standards with an innovative way of exploring the sounds of tomorrow. He definitely has become over the years a confident performer that can easily electrify the dance floor with his emotionally and technically state-of-the-art sets. This has made him an undeniable vinyl expert as resident of PSYCHO THRILL, but also a recognized DJ that dares to transcend the “classic” rules in the genres House, Techno, Detroit, Dub, Acid and Electro. Of course Bauman shows the same confidence and authenticity with sound specific sets in which his special love for House, in particular for the deeper House styles, will always be the strongest element. His commitment to the underground is the essence of it all…

Baumann’s concept and greatest goal is to be able to capture the crowd and transport it to the sound of atmospherically condensed House and Techno far from the daily routine and tension. As an indisputable "defender of the vinyl" he owns an eclectic and constantly growing collection of more than 6000 records. Furthermore he has started a new side project, the act CHRIS BAUMANN LIVE which has had quite a big impact with a strong performance in terms of "deeper trippin’ Acid" at Cologne’s hip venue "CLUB BAHNHOF EHRENFELD" during the C/O POP Festival in 2011.

Since the beginning of Cologne’s PSYCHO THRILL second phase, back in 2008, Bauman has been an active part of the label family where he has mainly dedicated himself to event management, arrangement and the baby-step development of the new VINYL-supportive digital platform which led “Psycho Thrill” finally to “bandcamp”. Recently he's planning further new productions, his first album and the launching of his own label BAUMHAUS Recordings set for late fall 2017.
