France - 🇫🇷 Languedoc - Pic Saint Loup. 🍇 80% Syrah, 10% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On the estate are the remains of the first fortified village dating from prehistory, around 2300 BC. This place is called "Château du Lebous". It consists of 250 m of ramparts reinforced by 10 towers. Later, these towers were used as burials. The site, studied by Dr. Arnal from 1954 is classified as a historical monument. This Terroir and Domain influenced by the Roman presence owes its name of "SALADE" to the Roman helmet without crest and without visor, vestige of the places. The family history begins with a notarial act dating back to 1803. At this date, four brothers: Thomas, Jacques, André and Augustin SERRES acquired several areas, including that of Salad. This is the beginning of the adventure. The vineyard, facing south, is backed by the first hills that announce the Cevennes. It is dominated by two highlights: Pic Saint Loup (658 m) and the Causse de l'Hortus (512 m). The vineyard Terroir Pic Saint Loup is the northernmost of the appellation COTEAUX du LANGUEDOC.The estate is made up of five soils of different geological origins, the main ones being the scree and the soft limestone of the lower slopes, assuring it a very great richness and typicity. The property has an area of ​​45 hectares: 35 hectares in plain and 10 hectares in hills. It consists only of AOC grape varieties planted between 1980 and 2000: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Since 2006, the winemaker is Anna Donnadieu.
