monster crossing: rise!
NEW TRAILER AAAS
So A) I love this thing I want one
B) leviathans are back! So Mizutsune is looking closer and closer to a hard confirm now that the base skeleton is back. Plus, Mizutsune always had super high mobility so it'll fit in perfectly with all of these new high-mobility monsters and combat.
Welcome back to these two as well. I enjoy Ludroth and since I only ever played World and GU, I never fought a Wroggi. So hey! Wroggis and Ludroths.
I'm glad to see new primate-style fanged beasts! The list of monsters in this is way too small in my opinion, and you could do so much fun stuff with these guys.
...And then this happens.
Welcome back, you rubbery, electric, wall-crawling [redacted]. I hate fighting you but at least I can smack your loud screaming ass off of the ceiling with my unga bunga club now.
And last but not least!
Slagtoth. Lumpy friend.
Ye.
Monster Hunter Rise. So excited!!!
A cladogram of piscine wyverns I made.
My reasoning for the placement of piscine leviathans closer to elder dragons was that the hypothetical ancestor of elder dragons, piscine wyverns, and “piscine leviathans” in this scenario was probably a quadruped with very large paired dorsal fins. Then the ones that lead to piscine leviathans and elder dragons might have used these fins for movement, but then they became vestigial in some piscine leviathans (somna) and eventually lost entirely (mud dogs).
Here is a cladogram of true elder dragons I made that acts as a continuation of this and elaborates on many details.
