btw i am constantly thinking about kevin day’s comeback and the way he spent weeks training with wymack just to get to a place where he could contribute on the court, and how rough his playing still was, and how the Foxes didn’t think he’d be able to pull this off, & he pushed himself until he could score anyway

and i am constantly thinking about how, “Instead of getting irritated, Kevin got quiet,” how he honed his aim and focused on being able to score on andrew, because if he could score on andrew, he could score on any of the other goalies in the league—it meant he was good enough to play. and it took weeks, but he did it.

and i am thinking about how scoring once wasn’t enough, how kevin relearned his target, relearned the game, and did it again and again, and how andrew rose to the challenge, and as kevin regained the pieces of himself, he dragged andrew with him, and “for the first time all year, Andrew had looked—awake”

reread the part of son nefes where kevin shows up with his newly-broken hand and i'm convinced some of the foxes thought something else was going on when they got on that bus.

like imagine you've been enjoying yourself at a party and then you come back to the bus that's your ride home and it smells like blood and your coach is pretty much pushing people into their seats saying "we have to get out of here right now" and there's a still body in one of the seats who's fully covered up from head to toe in your nurse's (probably bloody) dress so that not even his face is visible and then your coach closes the door and unbuttons his jacket and he's covered in blood. and then he says "one word of this gets out before we're ready for people to hear it and a lot of people are going to get hurt."

like i know at least one person pissed themself thinking they were becoming witness to a murder and being threatened about it.

(also imagine neil had been there lmao he would have been out of there. not running from one serial killer straight into the arms of another no thank you)

my religion is that one time renee went to dan's school to meet her after wymack signed them both at palmetto to "get to know her captain better" knowing damn well everyone at the school fucking loathes renee for beating their school's team during exy finals and some of the students ganging up on the girls except renee literally took them all down within a MINUTE all the while holding the holy bible. not to mention breaking one of their noses with said bible. what an actual fucking icon.
