[Aphelios X Sona] The Music of the Night

Night time sharpens, heightens each sensation

Darkness wakes and stirs imagination

Silently the senses abandon their defenses

Helpless to resist the notes I write

For I compose the music of the night

Here it is - my very first fanart for 2021. I was working on this as the clock ticked the midnight for the first day of new year (based on the timezone of my residence). Yes, I started off year 2021 by drawing smut XD I like how neither of these two characters talk, but there’d be no need for them to share words. Their bodies serve as instruments; their gazes substitute their voices; and their touches play the notes of their hearts to weave a duet of the night. :) I tried a lot of experiments for this art, including different brush settings, minor shading, and levels. I’m hoping to expand on this art into a form of short comic strip, but that will have to wait. Personally I’m really excited to draw more of this stuff for my beloved shipping. :D

[Aphelios x Sona] Valentine’s Sweet (OOC warning)

This is something I came up for this year’s Valentine’s Day - a short fan comic for Aphelios and Sona. Like I said in the title, there is OOC warning for Aphelios. I rushed with this comic, so please keep in mind that there are no lines (though these two are non-talking champions), and the characters’ appearances greatly vary from scene to scene.

Though I believe this comic is pretty much straightforward, to give you a bit of details Aphelios gets jealous over the chocolate box Sona shows him (which is why her supposed admirer is a poorly painted stick figure in his head lol), but it turns out she bought it herself to share with him, and he earns himself a bump on his head. XD

The idea for this comic came up just days before this year’s Valentine’s, so I had to rush and work overnight (I had to stay awake past 3 am for the last two days, and I even had to stay seated past 5 am only to get roughly 4 hours of sleep, which is why I’m feeling faintly dizzy as I type). That’s why Aphelios’s and Sona’s appearances are not consistent in this comic, and I didn’t have time to edit this in a comic strip form (although I think it’s better not to have it in comic strip format for Tumblr). As much as I feel it’s a shame I couldn’t do a better job, I really don’t have time to work on it anymore, and I would’ve never made it on time if it weren’t for the SD scenes. At least I’m glad I manage to finish it before this year’s Valentine’s Day ended (at least not on my time zone). And who would’ve thought I’d get to celebrate Valentine’s Day because of my beloved shipping lol.

[Aphelios x Sona] Kiss on His Face

I completed one of my several Aphelios x Sona fanarts that I had been neglecting so far XD I tried a lot of changes for this one, including Aphelios's hairstyle and face, and especially the way I drew and colored their hair. I'm not completely satisfied with how it turned out, but in overall I'm happy with my result lol And there's plenty more where that came from - I hope my art skills will improve as I complete more Aphelios x Sona fanarts one by one. :D

[Aphelios x Sona] Lovers Under the Moon

This is also one of my fanarts that I have been neglecting after completing the initial sketch. 

I know that I need a lot of practice on backgrounds and special effects, so I decided to practice with this fanart.

Yes, I did a fully colored fanart of this shipping just because I wanted to do some practice on background lol

The reason why Aphelios and Sona are wearing something other than their default costumes is because this is a scene from the Aphelios x Sona fanfic I'm trying to come up with (which means I'm not gonna give the details behind this scene and spoil the contents lol).

And I still have a long way to go with backgrounds + special effects. The only way I can improve is to repeat practice after practice; hopefully I'll gradually improve lol

[Phelsona] Touching Her Face

I was suddenly inspired by this pose, so here it is. The only part of Aphelios you can see in this fanart is his hand, but I don’t care - the main goal of this fanart was to make Sona look beautiful XD. 

The overall effect is not hugely different from the phelsona fanart I drew with Sona kissing Aphelios’s face, but this time there’s something new added to complete this piece. Whenever I draw, I try to make use of the Photoshop features I’m new to or unfamiliar with. And for this one, I tried using the feather & curve feature (which is why the outline for the shaded parts turned out softer compared to my previous fanarts). I’m still trying to get used to the curve feature, so I’ll have to do much more practice.

And this is the gif of the progress for this fanart, something I learned how to make with Photoshop. This is my first time making a gif file, so I didn’t know the optimal size to save it in without corrupting the colors. Next time I’ll try to make a gif clean of color noise.

I realized that as I make more phelsona fanart, I’m definitely learning a thing or two as an artist - which is why phelsona is simply the best for me lol.
