If we're still on the subject of Sonic and his entourage of potential male love interests(or who thirst for him), then I'm sharing some headcanons: In the history of his now long dead ass tribe having a romantic relationship with another man was seen as peak morale for warriors, so Knuckles wants to join Sonic in adventures whenever he can even though he still can't fess up to him already. Eggman never felt strongly for anyone else because he felt they were too weak for his almighty power and
intelligence- until Sonic kicked his ass for the very first time, then he knew deep down that he was 'the one' worthy enough. Shadow doesn't know why, but something about Sonic not keeping him from falling down down to Earth after they defeated the Biolizard together makes him want to beat Sonic's ass out, like someone who's partner failing to catch them during the falling backwards trust exercise. Unaware of the very existence of the concept of same sex attraction and having no point of references to turn to, Chris assumed things like that he just really missed his parents to try and make sense of the confusion and frustration from his feelings for Sonic. Pride still infinitely (pun sort of intended) hurt from Shadow calling him weak, Infinite set out to try and "dominate" Sonic, in order to prove to Shadow, himself, and his invisible dead teammates, that he is in fact not weak. Starline eventually started to become jealous of Eggman's undivided dedication to defeating Sonic, to the point of him having the whole attitude of "What does he have that I don't?" So he figures that in order to win over Eggman for absolutely sure, that he must figure out what makes Sonic such an evil genius magnet in any way he possibly can.

Very fun headcanons! Knuckles' scenario reminds me of a fic I found after Sonic 2 came out, with Knuckles trying to court Sonic according to his echidna customs and Sonic being totally clueless lol. I can totally see Eggman developing an obsession over Sonic because he's the closest thing to an equal he has (not in intelligence of course, pff, but in tenacity and determination, he can respect how similar they are in those regards). Infinite trying to humiliate Sonic to prove himself superior to Shadow is... oddly IC. Starline also makes a shocking amount of sense, and ngl, it puts his creation of Surge in a very different light. Chris' blurs the line between headcanon and canon.
