"DOWNPOUR" okay I absolutely gotta,

    Clouds opening up and pouring down was nothing unusual, though it was definitely more than a little surprising for the hybrid... The forecast said it would be blue skies all day, but with how the climate had changed, the weather really was unpredictable now.

    Shadow found occasional shelter under certain large branches and foliage, but he was still soaking wet. The rain was coming down so hard, it was completely inadvisable to run out there again... but an idea struck the Hedgehog. He knew a certain hero lived out here, in his tree house. Considering where he was, Shadow ascertained where he needed to go, keeping to the forest paths as much as possible. The air smelled good when it rained like this.

    Eventually, he'd arrive, climbing his way up in order to knock against the wooden frame. He felt embarrassed, suddenly, to be in this position at all... coming to Sonic for shelter... Shadow grimaced to himself, hoping that the blue hedgehog wouldn't make a big deal out of it... The air was chilly in the rain, and Shadow's fur bristled some as he hugged his arms.

"I'll fight for you. You're worth every battle."

    Shadow's brow relaxed somewhat, a look of quiet surprise on his face as he regarded the other. Usually, this meant a bit of banter would follow... 'I can fight for myself' and other such responses. But here...?

    Sonic's voice, his expression... Shadow's ears lifted somewhat, attuned to those words. Under normal circumstances, he'd turn away and carefully withdraw to avoid revealing too much-- but this time, he maintained eye contact, nodding his head slowly in response.

    "I'll be sure you're by my side, then."

    Sonic was unnecessarily rash, throwing himself into whatever came forward without much of a plan... But that wasn't something Shadow disliked about him. Rather... he'd make sure that wind could continue to flow freely, without ever becoming trapped.... Because Shadow wasn't sure if Sonic would care about himself enough to ensure it.

"I didn't know where else to go." except its super nonchalant because he's fine wym

    Shadow hadn't expected to see Sonic here, at this time... He looked the Hedgehog over, trying to find anything visibly wrong, before gesturing with a tilt of his head to come in.

    The hybrid began moving pots out of the way, at least so Sonic could sit on Shadow's bed, a cot in the main living area... maybe the bedroom was too full of plants.

    All he could hope was that Sonic didn't pay too much attention to all of the yellow sticky notes adorning the wall, all of them covered in important information for Shadow to remember. It really was a mess of clutter in here.

    "It's not like you to come here at this time. What's happened? And why couldn't you have gone to Tails over this?"

    Now that's a text alright. Shadow doesn't respond for way too long, and when he does...

" Yo Shad! Think fast! " He's tossing a bag of something to the other. Upon catching it, one might realize it's a bag of... candies. Strawberry candies!

     It was a good thing that his reflexes were so good-- the second he hears the bag be tossed, Shadow immediately catches it out of the air, looking it over... Strawberry hard candies. The Creme Savers variety... His pupils dilate some as he stares at the bag-- this brand had disappeared a long time ago, but they still must be sold somewhere.

     He looks back up in Sonic's direction, mouth somewhat ajar, "How did you...?"

" Not bad, right? " The blue blur muses, soaking in the sun's warmth and enjoying the way the wind softly brushed against his fur. It was just some random sea-side town, and a small one at that. But it reminded him much of his birthplace, with the way the waves gently lapped at the shores and the chimes of fishing boat bells carrying up the face of the cliff. He really should go back to visit sometime... Sonic heaves a content sigh, pacing a few steps closer to the edge and plopping down in the grass. " It's one of my favorite spots, at the moment. "

    When Sonic had invited the ultimate life form with him to come see something, Shadow didn't exactly know what to expect... it really could have been anything, and while Shadow usually might have dismissed him with a prepared utterance, this time he actually did accompany Sonic.

    This place was more than he'd expected. It wouldn't have looked like much to many, but that was exactly what made it so special. It could be overlooked so easily. Shadow's gaze fixed to the fishing boats, listening to their chiming bells, mixing with the cries of gulls.

    "Why did you bring me here?" He wasn't upset, but he couldn't help but wonder if there was something more... it was hard to tell with Sonic. "Just because it's a favorite spot? Surely you've shared it with your closer friends."
