People Misunderstand The Relationship Between Sonic & Amy Part 2

So when it comes their interactions, there is a mixture of clumsiness, occasional annoyance, but overall stable and comfortable for the both of them as it stands. One of them being clearly passionate and the other shy and not wanting to show emotional vulnerability. But also, there is the overlooked banter that exists which is also confused for antagonism.

People often misinterpret many scenes from older games as Amy being aggressive and trying to force Sonic to do things he doesn't want to do like marriage. Overall ignoring the context for a lot of scenes in question.

One being the bit with Twinkle Park, which isn't because Sonic didn't like Amy and whatnot like some people have claimed. But it's because he specifically didn't like places like Twinkle Park. "Better get going, I'm not to fond of places like this."...... But at the same time he still goes with Amy into the place overall.

The next one is from Sonic Adventure 2 when Amy says "I'll tell you if you'll marry me."...... People take this line way too seriously as this is Amy making a joke. Amy was already there to break Sonic out of prison, and intended to tell the information he wanted anyways.

The next one is from Sonic Heroes in which again people misunderstand the scene as Amy trying to force Sonic to marry her. Amy throughout this scene is messing with Sonic while making a callback to what she said in SA2. Sonic even knows Amy is playing around as he says "Amy, knock it off! There's no time to play!"....... All of this was happened because overall Sonic was trying to stop Eggman. While Amy was trying to find and check in on Sonic, while helping Cream and Big find Chocola and Froggy. SH JP Manual: "Amy is still very much in love with Sonic, but she hasn't heard from him in a while and is worried about him. When she was troubled by the lack of clues to find him, she happened to see a picture of Sonic in a newspaper article!"..........

Now on back on to the fact Sonic does indeed like Amy. This detail as previously mentioned is why Sonic can and does accept dates with Amy. In Sonic Unleashed Sonic can accept a date with Amy, which was likely followed up on in Sonic and the Black Knight. As Sonic had promised a date with Amy, and actually seemed to be on his way to that day with 2 chili dogs. At least before he got swept up into an adventure.

Now for some important stuff to note. In an Interview with Yuji Naka from 2003-06-14 on SEGA dot com. Yuji Naka gave the following response to the following question. Question: "We get a whole lot of letters on this one: Do you think Sonic and Amy Rose will ever get married?"........ Yuji Naka: "There will be hardly any chance, I bet. Amy will continue to pursue Sonic all the time, but Sonic will never get married. I think so, because I cannot picture the image of Sonic that he is married and has his children! Also, I feel it is more Amy's style to always chase Sonic."...... This kinda lines up with Amy' description from Sonic Central. "But Sonic is too busy saving the world to think about having a girlfriend. Let alone a wife and kids!"......

There is also the following from Naoto Ohshima on Twitter from Dec 12, 2018. "I love Sonic and Emmy. Sonic will always be a boy at heart. If Sonic ever had an adult heart, I think he would choose Amy."........

So why do I bring those last 2 things up? Well...... Both Sonic & Amy like each other, and they do have some form of a relationship where Sonic is even willing to go on dates. But the heart of a boy bit and the no picturing Sonic as being married ties into a core bit on why this relationship won't see a full conclusion. That is they are both teenagers who are in constant adventures. Given what kind of series it is the story goes on and the adventure continue, leaving them perpetually as teenagers. If they were both to settle down that would mean the end of the story, the end of the adventures. This is why we won't ever see that.
