Treez Lowkey is Watching Anime & Giving Off Good “Energy.” #NewAudio #TKF
Sonically this record is fucking crazy! I’m really big on everything gelling together. If you’re a long time subscriber to the feed, you’ve probably seen me use the term ‘sonic lasagna.’ If you haven’t its probably because its really rare that I use it, but basically it means the mix is damn near perfect.
Like most hip-hop nerds I also love the nostalgia of music produced from the golden era, but I also love when someone captures something new in it’s purist form. Energy is the perfect name for this record because I honestly couldn’t explain why this record is doing something weird to the synapses in my brain right now. All the little nuances layered throughout the beat made this track noteworthy. Like Russell Simmons said, “all any good emcee needs is a dope baseline and tight drums.” At this point I really don’t know how much of an emcee Treez Lowkey is or will be in the future, but I dig the melodies and trippy production.
Hopefully we will hear more dope records from this guy, and maybe we will be able to figure out what the hell is going on in his studio when these wavy tracks are being crafted.
The energy I got from this record was enough to peek my interest and I would go out on a limb to say Treez smokes a lot of weed, probably uses a vaporizer, and watches a fuck-load of anime… Peace
