Mahiru and Sonia are best friends, yet act like girlfriends. Sonia loves giving Mahiru pecks on the cheeks and maybe sometimes on the lips if she's feeling mischievous. I think it would be hilarious if Natsumi felt strong competition because they're both blonde.

Soniru Thoughts

I don't particularly ship these two romantically per se, but I do have a thing for them in mind. I love the idea of Sonia pecking Mahiru's cheeks as a greeting. Could be that she does the same to others, but I personally like the idea of Sonia doing the same to others she's fairly close and comfortable with and if they don't mind it. Mahiru would be embarrassed with the idea at first, but would slowly grow used to it overtime. She wouldn't find it a problem at all. It's all just part of Sonia's culture - that would be Mahiru's mindset. I have absolutely daydreamt about Sonia really enjoying it to the point where she becomes bolder into pecking Mahiru's lips, almost on impulse. It could work platonically or romantically~! And again, depends on how Mahiru feels about Sonia, too, haha. It's quite a fun dynamic. I have thought about Sonia having a secret crush on Mahiru and adoring it whenever she gets the chance to interact with her. Honestly, I think the fun thing about Soniru is that - like I said - it can work both platonically and romantically, which is rare for me, since I tend to prefer one thing over the other, but I genuinely love it going both ways - it's the same for MahiPeko, too! Though, that's most likely influenced by a fic of mine. Overall, it's just funny to think about the reactions they'd get once they both grow accustomed to the kissing. Sonia: "Mahiru~!" Sonia gently clasps Mahiru's wrists into her palms. Sonia: "Good morning~!" Mahiru, unfazed: "Oh, good morning, Sonia." Teruteru: "Well, well, well, would you look at that~?" Ibuki: "Welcome to the world of yuri~! It gets slippery when wet and Ibuki knows it!" Chisa: "Ah, this is what you call young love~!" Mahiru, embarrassed: "W-wait, I think you've all got the wrong idea." Fuyuhiko: "Eh? What, you sayin' you ain't together?" Mahiru and Sonia glance over at one another and back at Fuyuhiko. Sonia: "We're just friends." It's just a rough example. I didn't really think it out all that much, to be honest, haha. But still, my point still stands. I do wonder how Kazuichi would feel. Anyways, as for my MahiSumiSatoPeko enthusiasm - well, I wonder how their jealousy and desire to do the same would take it. Activate that overprotectiveness, Sato and Natsumi! As for Peko, perhaps she unintentionally comes off as intimidating when she stares at Mahiru and Sonia being so close together...? Sonia would probably get the wrong idea and may feel like she should back off, or just brushes it off. Not sure if she's the confrontational type. I don't really focus much on Sonia, now that I mention it. Moving on, Soniru is an entertaining dynamic that I'd love to explore more thoroughly sometime!
