"okay, you won. come here." he says with a sigh, lifting up the blanket whilst glancing at the window, finding the sound of the rain to be rather nostalgic. how many times had the fallen asleep together like this, back home? he waits a bit and then lays down, facing the ceiling for a while before turning to him, smiling a bit. it's like they are children again. "sleep well, albi." and he'd spend the whole morning denying ' snuggling closer ' to him during the night. some things never change.
@sonneliht might regret letting big brother sleep here in the morning
white-tipped tail wiggles with delight, unfiltered enthusiasm radiating off the keeper as he flings himself under the covers. his head hits the pillow immediately as he snuggles into his usual position. a toothy grin peers up at the sitting hyur as his palm strikes once, twice, three times against the fabric in that silent way he’s always done. “it’s time to sleep!” each thud rings, “come get warm and cozy!”
it isnt until lucas lays down, though, until albi traces the line of his facial profile with his eyes that he notes how long it’s been since they slept in the same bed. back in hyrstmill, probably. some long, long, long time ago, when lina would wander in from her room because that was simply the way things were. back in the days of sneaking from the old mun tuy cellar his mother had made a home out of to the little cabin for the ala mhigan kids, they held each other with pinky promises and little talks about nothing at all, playing hero with unfinished mufflers as their capes and sticks for swords. the future was bright and open and anything was possible, but it was far off, untouchable, and they’d never catch up.
back when everything was horrible, the world was mourning, but they could still smile, as long as they had each other. back before the future took a form, and its red strings wrapped them in a web of which there was no escape.
“sweet dreams, lucas,” he whispers back, like he had every night before, while reaching out to intertwine calloused fingers, “i’ll be right here ta chase off the monsters if they come, okay?”
