the passing millennium have not desensitized her to thanatos’ endless complaining. she cannot help the smile that just BARELY curls the corners of her lips despite it. without the freezing cold, she imagines his workload is easier to bear. not by much, of course. death is a constant, unending part of mortality. truly, he has all the reason to complain --- she’s just grown tired of hearing it over the years, when she had no solution. now that she has one, however . . . persephone feels STUPID for not having thought it up sooner. it is in thanatos’ nature to whine, but hopefully this will appease it some.
there isn’t much time before demeter comes searching. it always sours her mother’s mood to see subjects of the underworld. her subjects are welcome into her home whenever the need arises, but as the god isn’t planning on staying very long, persephone would prefer to avoid her mother’s ire. even if she does ADORE thanatos’ visits. “ i have an idea, ” the queen says, almost in passing, as she walks through the field, the world beneath her feet blooming as she glides by. “ would you like to hear it now or upon my return? ” although she is above, she retains all the powers of her crown --- but she does not rule alone, and decisions like this require paperwork.
