            hands wrap around one another, taking hold as daintily as possible, though it was hard to DISPEL the feeling of irritation that RESIDED within. her council had once again decided it was time she found a suitable match and WED. a marriage will secure your title… a marriage will ensure a strong future for winterfell… your marriage will give us a strong alliance. and though sansa could not PRESUME to prove the facts wrong, she would not marry for POWER, nor would she marry for anything less than love. she had been promised to one –and then to another. wed to an imp, promised to harry & now she could no longer see the difference between marriage and a BINDING CAGE. she would be free to marry when she chose. and as of yet her heart had not seen fit to bind her to another.

The boy raised his stare from the book the older woman managed to acquire  for him. And his blank stare gave it all:

This is his mother. The adult in his life. While his Da is not being goofy.

“Grim mom, very fucking grim.”

“Just so you know I’ll always be watching. Can’t hide anything from me. Ever.”

Her eyes did narrow, though. He just used a no-no word to her face. Sigrun tapped the book down, bending to push her face near her sons. 

“Also, you’re grounded.”

Sigrid and Tilda were fast asleep, cuddled together under their mother cloaks. Her husband was checking on their people, trying to answer questions, and calm everyone down. She had watched him, smiling softly, before bringing a bowl of soup to Bain. 

He sat at the small fire she started and from the flames, she saw the small cut on his cheek. The cold water of the lake had cleaned it, but she wished she had something to keep it from infection. 

Sitting herself next to him, she passed him the bowl.

“Eat. I know you gave Tilda your share.”
