I don't usually care about how many people follow me, but once in a while, I poke my head over and see the number of followers I have..... and I just think "wow why do all these people follow me. I'm just posting junk with the occasional headcannon or the once-in-a-blue-moon soapbox rant about something I don't like. Why you follow me. Me boring"
But thanks for following me anyway.
Now back to the shitposting.

I did a bit of a ranty, feminist blog about today's Stirling Moss interview.
Not that you asked for my opinion
but here it is anyway.
Reading a piece in the Washington Post about a woman in Tennessee who worked on the Romney campaign there and how she doesn't understand "what the heck happened to the country" ...
The article mentions her Southern Baptist Church, whose literature describes marriage as "the uniting of one man and one woman."
So here's the thing: that's fine.
It's the church's opinion. The members of that congregation are perfectly entitled to believe that God defines marriage as being between a man a woman, and that gay marriage is therefore an illegitimate institution.
But here's the other thing: The United States government is not that church. It is no church. It is founded on the principle of the separation of church and state
In the Catholic church, only marriages performed in the Catholic church are "legitimate". But according to the state, even those Southern Baptist and Hindu and atheist marriages are legitimate. Because the government is not a church. It does not answer to any one set of beliefs. So why should gay marriage be any different? Why does the Christian religion get to dictate who can and cannot get married, when that is not the religion of the government?
I still don't understand why we are even having this conversation. To me, it is common sense. The government does not exist to protect the "sanctity of marriage," whatever that even means. The Constitution was designed to protect us from tyranny, including the tyranny of one religion over any other.
Where the heck has the country gone? It hasn't gone anywhere. This is still America, and in America, there is liberty and justice for ALL, not just white anglo-saxon Protestants.
My SOPAbox
Now, today I would have liked to have talked about what has been going on during my break or something of the like, however, I feel that this is a much more important issue to discuss, regardless of how few followers I have. This bill is going to ruin the Internet as we know it today, but then if you are reading this then you probably already have heard that more than enough times to drive you mad.
A quick pause, for those who don't know and haven't gone mad. If you don't know or understand SOPA go watch this and get the basics.
Today was the bill's first day to be discussed and the thing that bothers me most of all is that the more I read about this bills progression the more blatantly apparent it becomes to me congress does not understand what they are voting on. Maybe some of the representatives have good intentions, and there are the few champions that understand the gravity of this bill, however, by and large they are clueless as to what this really means. On the one hand I can't entirely blame them for being so inept, they are not my generations elected officials. They simply did not grow up in this highly digital environment. On the other hand, this does not excuse the highest body of order this government supposedly has from failing to recognize the time we live in and the impact of their actions. They themselves use twitter, YouTube, and other Internet services to function in today's society. To say that they are totally ignorant is an overstatement, they have enough knowledge to know that the Internet is a very valuable tool. Not only is it valuable, but its still just a child. It is growing in to something more and more amazing everyday. Hindering that growth in anyway at all is to hinder humanity as a whole. People fear for the various crises that pop up around the world, they fear for the end of humanity as we know it, they fear that things are rotting, but the Internet gives me hope that we can grow together as one people.
I know that the good intentions are here to fight piracy, but is this honestly the best way to go about it? I also know that this bill is backed by Hollywood, and I can't exactly hate them for it. I understand that piracy really hurts a lot of good peoples hard work. I myself intend to write and direct movies, and would love a Hollywood budget to do that, so I understand the desire to cling to your content. This is not the way. This will hurt content a thousand times more than anything than anything out there right now is doing. What marketing is better for a company than that done by the fans. If this passes fans will be too burned to want create content that promotes the very material they want us to buy. If I had a blockbuster movie out in theaters right now I would promote fans to use the material however they please, so long as they don't rip the movie off wholesale.
The news media raved over the occupy movements, but what deserves attention is SOPA. If you were to ask me which means more to this country, or even the world, its this. This will leave a far deeper footprint in Americas history than sitting out side wall street for a few months. I've already said this, but I want to again, interfering with the way the Internet works is tantamount to laying siege on the entire human race. I don't want this in my congress or in any free nations government. No nation has the right to govern the Internet, the truest representation of this blue marble. I want nothing more of this than to see it thrown out the window, with an apology that this was ever taken seriously. I'll hop off my SOPAbox, but If you have any thoughts on this, anything to say at all, please contact your representative by clicking here.
