INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (2022-) | S03E07
thinking about armand again and how different his memories are from when they're perceived directly from lestat's pov in tvl and then retold by armand himself in tva. in lestat's version armand begged the brothel owners to keep him, pleaded that he'd be good, he'd do anything. marius appearing as this big, shadowy figure without a real identity, something monstrous to take him away from what was already familiar to him. and then in armand's retelling to david talbot he's the gentle father who unshackles him after having resisted for so long against the abuse in the brothel, something celestial to deliver him from his earthly sufferings. you could argue it's a continuity error from anne rice's part because she wanted to write marius/armand erotica for tva and it's impossible to do so if not even the willingness of the child is appearant in the story, but i also think it says something real about proximity and memories and what the psyche chooses to prioritize when there's no other choice. at the start of tva he already reconnected with marius, he even entrusted sybelle & benji to him. marius would've reappeared in armand's life if he'd wanted it or not, how else was he going to deal with it if not by hanging onto the most human parts of their relationship. in both versions of the story marius appears god-like. frightening in tvl, benevolent in tva. if god wants you back, there's nothing much you can do.
listen to me, this is so so important: you've gotta get used to really giving it your 60% as a default. like don't half-ass it necessarily but try not to go over 70% or so of an ass. you'll feel better and live a happier more fulfilled life, and on the rare occasions where you do need to lock the fuck in you'll be able to pull off bullshit that the sad miserable wretches giving it their 100% can never dream off, because they're busy draining themselves dry and you have energy reserves to spare.
This is actually what I was adviced to do at the work rehabilitation program I went to. Hasn't left my mind since. 10/10 solid advice
“hi welcome to mcdonalds what can i get for you?”
“yeah can i get a deluxe quarter pounder with cheese?”
“absolutely, do you want the meal or just the sandwich?’
“uuuuuh hold on”
*fishes something out of my pocket*
“mikey what do i do?”
“get the fries. youll need the energy in the coming days”
*stuffs it back in my pocket*
“uhh yes please the meal would be great”
What Was The Image
thats between me and the holy fucking ghost
And I did scream.
i made a post like this before but I can't find it now. so. I'll just redo it.
What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂
Based on a true story
every year small towns and indigenous communities across canada are burnt to nothing by horrific wildfires and americans go on the internet to complain about it and blame us bc the smoke has spread to their state. i’m so tired.
go yell at mark carney or your own local politicians about climate change and urge them to do more to stop it. the namaygoosisagagun first nation had their community destroyed today. you can find a link to donate to them here. donate to your local food bank. go to the beach next week when the smoke clears and you don’t have to think about it anymore while the people who’s lives have been destroyed will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forward when we are already in a huge cost of living crisis across the country.
rbing with other places you can donate to to support those impacted by the fires!
true north aid (an organization aimed at providing support to remote/northern indigenous people in canada)
canadian red cross wildfire fund
ontario spca and humane society (links to their donate page specifically aimed at supporting pets and animals in areas impacted by the fires)
and the anishinabek nation’s page where you can donate to support the namaygoosisagagun nation who had their land destroyed by the fires is still accepting donations
