I know that sora being nobody - the one who wasn't properly bequeathed the keyblade, the one who has no ties to keyblade wielders, the one who just happened to step up at the right time - is part of his narrative, but also his dad could have been perfect for Tidus parallels (of which he already has plenty)

Decided to finally draw a family photo that's lowkey possibly part of something else but this is the only part of it I can show now. Either way, this turned out really cute, I love drawing my designs for Sora's parents and can ya believe this is the first time I've drawn them all together as a happy family? Terra:Hey Aqua?

Aqua:Yeah Terra?

Terra:I never really payed any attention to it, but Sora... he kinda looks like me huh?

Aqua blood ran cold at that....

Aqua:Um. Yeah. I guess

Terra:I also see some of you in him. Like, he has a similar noise you, it's weird. Plus I just get this vibe from him that I know him from somewhere.

Aqua:.........

Terra:Eh. Probably nothing. Anywayws, I'm gonna go find Ven.

Terra gets up and begins to walk off, leaving aqua alone. She waits until Terra is out of sight before she tears uo a bit.

Aqua:I can't keep this up.....

You guys are always going on about Sora's mom, but what about his dad? He does have one. He was mentioned in BBS when Riku was talking to Terra on Destiny Islands so he exists and is/was in Sora's life. So either he's dead or Sora ditched him along with his mom.

Odd question to ask, but do you have any specific headcanons about Sora's father and mother? Like if they may be pre-existing SE characters? (i.e. I've personally always thought Sion and Dominique from the Bouncer as his parents since the former looks like an adult version of Sora and was the basis of his character model and the latter because she's the aforementioned character's love interest).

I don’t actually have headcanons about what pre-existing SE characters they might be, but I enjoy hearing about other people’s ideas! I looked up Sion and Dominique, and I can see why you think they’d make good candidates for Sora’s parents. It’s interesting to see how Nomura has used his ideas and character designs throughout his career. 

I do have a few headcanons about Sora’s parents though:

Well, for one, they raised Sora, the human embodiment of sunshine and joy, so they’re probably pretty awesome themselves. 

Sora mainly takes after his father’s physical appearance... but he has his mother’s eyes. I just really like the idea that his eyes are like his mother’s (maybe it’s the Harry Potter fan in me?)

They worry a lot about their son going off on often dangerous adventures, but understand why he feels like he has to help the worlds. They’re good people, and their son takes after them, especially in terms of his selfless nature. 

They feel awful about forgetting Sora in KH2. Hearing about his disappearance at the end of KH3 hurt, too. That right there is a parent’s worst nightmare, and Riku and/or Kairi had to break the news to them... 

Sorry to end on an angsty note, I just can’t imagine how they would feel about their son disappearing like that, especially because he’s their only child... I know the series proper needs to focus its screentime on the core characters, but I like thinking about what happens behind the scenes anyway.

Everybody going on about Sora's mom what about Sora's dad who brought Riku and Sora to the play island every time, where is the love for this man.

I headcanon Sora probably looked up to him a lot and that he was genuinely a good and creative person, if a bit of a pushover.
