Ah! Welcome back!! I just saw that you opened your requests and am so excited! Do you think you could do some headcannons of Soren's S/O trying to comfort him after he's attacked by the dragon, and he trying to reassure them that hes alright with what's happened?
Injured!Soren♦ Soren would be...sort of quiet. ♦ He tries his best to joke around with you, to reassure you that he’s going to be a poet, a writer. ♦ You don’t even have to try to see through his facade. He’s hurting. He’s trying to ensure that those he loves doesn’t hurt the way he’s hurting. ♦ When you sit down, and press a soft kiss to his forehead, you see his eyes glaze over. He blinks the tears away. ♦“Are you telling yourself, or are you telling me, love?” You hush, and he clenched his jaw. Silence reigns. ♦ When he speaks again, his words seem choked, as if he’s trying to speak past the lump in his throat. ♦“I’m happy” He pauses, to breathe, perhaps to consider his words. “that I can’t hurt anyone anymore.” ♦ You let him be until you know he’s done speaking, and brush his hair from his face lovingly and try to ignore the tears you feel on your cheeks. ♦ “You tried to do what you thought was best. You tried to protect people. That takes such bravery.” ♦“Being brave doesn’t save those who died, or the lives that were ruined, Y/N.” ♦ You wished you were a better wordsmith. You wished you were better at comforting in such dire situations. ♦ “What if you hadn’t attacked, and instead you’d ridden through the town and the dragon had breathed it’s fire down upon the entire village?” You asked. You didn’t know what the truth was, but you needed an angle to make Soren feel as though he wasn’t the villain in this situation. He wasn’t. He was genuine in his interest to protect people. “You stepped into a fight when you knew you where on the short end of the stick. You had few men, not nearly enough to slay a dragon, and you still didn’t think about yourself. You thought of the townspeople. You are not the bad guy, my love.” ♦ You watched as he crumbled. As he cried. As he thought. You saw conflict in him, and you wondered if there was something he wasn’t telling you. Now wasn’t the time to ask. “May I lay beside you?” You asked, and you saw him mouth the word ‘Yes’. ♦ So you laid beside him, and pressed a hand to his cheek just to hold him someplace where he could feel your touch, and you let your eyes close. ♦ You hadn’t resolved much, but perhaps you’ve given him something to think about. ♦“You’re a hero to me, good as any one out of a storybook.” You hushed. “Every hero has struggles, and every hero learns how to save people. But you never had to learn. You’ve always been so ready to help anyone who needed it. To protect them.” You said, quietly. “You see every problem as a nail, and you think your only tool is a hammer. You paid so much for a lesson others pay nothing but a slap on the hand for, and I’m so sorry. I will help Claudia anyway I can to help find a remedy.” Thanks for the request!-☼
