Here is monthly update on how i am doing, my thoughts on The Wire, The Sopranos and on Many Saints Of Newark along with news about Liar's Dice as well on DeviantArt. I never had the makings of a varsity blogger as uncle Jun would say. https://www.deviantart.com/deadlyviperquill/journal/Monthly-Update-29-09-21-893341671
Chicago, Illinois - 2015
I can’t believe we nearly didn’t come to Chicago! It’s been EPIC! Firstly we caught up with the super awesome Tim and Guida who we met last year in Paris waiting to get into the Catacombs! They basically welcomed us to Chicago like old family members, we got picked from the airport, shown around the city, taken to the best sights. It was so good!
We were only in Chicago for 3 nights but we managed to get a lot done and it’s a city we would definitely come back to. So what did we do you ask, well we:
:: Ate the most delicious deep dish pizza ever at Giordano’s - Seriously, this is a gap in the New Zealand pizza market. It’s less like a pizza and more like a pie - a pizza pie!
:: Went to a Comic Con type convention called Wizard Con where we got to bask in pop culture goodness, we also got to see a few celebs such as Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead and Boondock Saints. Kristen Bauer who plays Pam on True Bood, David Faustino aka Bud Bundy and whole bunch more!
:: Went to Garrets for some famous caramel and cheese popcorn. Which wasn’t really my thing but there’s a queue so you know it’s the real deal!
:: Walked up and down Magnificent Mile and dabbled with some shopping.
:: Had a beautiful accident where we walked along a snow covered beach to Navy Pier which was truly a sight to be seen. We didn’t know it was going to be so beautiful and we nearly didn’t do it. Best experience ever. I slipped over on some black ice, cause you know that’s how I roll. No damage done though.
:: Rode the Ferris Wheel to get some amazing views of the city, and because we must ride every Ferris Wheel we see (Not my rule) (but the best rule in town)!
:: We took selfies at Cloud Gate which is the giant reflective bean in Millennium Park.
:: Took a ride in a Uber with a “stereo-typical Chicago-ite” - He may as well of been a Sorprano. He had some great stories about how kids these days don’t know how to find information without smart phones and the internet helping them. Never mind that smartphone technology is the key to his business as an Uber driver.
Chicago, we’ll be back to see more of you at some point! It would of been great to get out of the city. And we couldn’t of done it all without the help of hosts Tim Guida!
Next stop New York *queue Taylor Swift song - Welcome to New York*
