As a Final Fantasy XIV player, and a newer Warframe fan...
I have to go out on a limb, since this has been something that's been driving me *nuts* and say that despite some base similarities between Emet-Selch(Hades, as I'll call him for ease of character limit) and Roathe, are NOTHING ALIKE!!! Gonna go full spoilers here, btw. Don't get me wrong! They do have some *base similarities*. For one, they share a VA, which is where most people draw the comparisons from. They both come from a place of respect in their respective societies, both said societies essentially being classified as *dead cultures* by the time you meet them. They've both committed war crimes that would make the Geneva Convention look like a suggestions list. HOWEVER!!! Personality-wise, they could not be more different. Hades, for one, is a scientist at heart. He's analytical, serious, and doesn't quite like fucking around. Hades, especially by the time you meet him, is *blunt*. Unless he has a specific contractual reason not to give you information, the big thing we have to keep in mind... *IS THAT HE DOES NOT LIE.* Reason being, especially when we first meet him, is because he doesn't have anything to loose by then. His friends are dead, his world is gone, and all he has is his work to try and rejoin the worlds back into even a *semblance* of the one he came from, and he doesn't think you or the Scions could stop him. He both does not care, and cares far too much. Also, there's nothing that states that the player character, or their previous incarnation as Azem, were in a romantic relationship with him. All we know is that Hades, Hythlodaeus, and Azem were all essentially close college friends, and that's why Hades has even some *semblance* of care for the WoL in Shadowbringers. Roathe, on the other hand, *is* a liar by nature! He's contrarian and a hypocrite on purpose! He thinks he's hot shit, and gets upset when it turns out that he's *not*. Roathe is afraid of dying, because now he has more than just a spare body to loose. He's a *soldier*, and also sees the world from that viewpoint. He sees everything as a chessboard he has to navigate, and wants to think that he has all of the pieces at all time, when because of his current lack of memories, he doesn't even have all of *his own* information. What we all also need to keep in mind is that we're all essentially on the same page when it comes to information about him, with the kimchats at all.(Unless you go poking around the Kimulacrum.) He's not trying to revive a fractured god or rebuild a scattered world, and he wasn't even a part of the highest echelon of Orokin society. Also, allow me to say that I'm not a Hades "girlie", and same with Roathe. Don't get me wrong, I like both of them as characters, and I'm excited to learn more about Roathe. But, this essentially feels like the same thing as saying like... Lizzie is the same as Hydaelyn/Venat because they share the same VA, or Viktor and Fibonacci being the same person as Astarion... Or any number of characters Ben Star has voice acted being the same as Arthur. Are Arthur and Clive from FF16 secretly the same person because they act a bit alike and share the same VA?? No. Voice actors have a type, and just because one of the devs has a game she likes and now has the ability to hire talent from said game, doesn't mean that they're actually written to be the same person. No shade against anyone and their headcanons, I'm just tired and jaded when it comes to these sorts of misconceptions about Hades, and now Roathe as well.
