Once Aunt May’s funeral and the Shiva period is over, Peter is on autopilot. He needs to mourn properly and while he gave himself the proper seven days to grieve, he’s fooling himself into believing that’s all he needed.
During Shiva, Peter made his new suit, opting for black and red, seeking a distraction from his overwhelming grief and loneliness. Now that the last person on this earth who knew him as Spider-Man and Peter Parker is dead, he no longer cares what people think of him.
He needed a new start, although Aunt May’s death is far from where he wanted things to end, he was starting to understand all he could bring to the table was death and heartbreak, he needed his suit to match.
